Title: After the viruse
Post by: biggriffin on 29 March 2020, 11:14:47
When this is all over, there's a lot of money HMG, are going to want back.. I can see, fuel duty, income tax, beer n fags, and lots of in-direct taxation going up. Lots of tax fiddles will be closed.. It's going to hurt, be working till we're 70+.  That'll start the millennial, snowflakes a moaning, as they hate working fullstop.

I reckon income tax will rise next year.

Think thats a certainty given the money being thrown around. Can see tax at maybe 25% and big hike in National Insurance Contributions too.

Being Self Employed does mean a lump sum in June but that will,be classed as an earnings on 2020 income so will also be taxed so its given with 1 hand and taken back with both .Not complaining as many are in a worse state though just worrying times for the foreseable future .

I think a global boycott of Chinese goods might be a good idea once the dust is settled. They have royally fcucked the global economy, not to mention the thousands of deaths and sickness caused due to them behaving like wealthy savages.

I agree totally although so much of our economy is based on Chinese goods that cant see that happening.

Still convinced this is part of some larger sinister man made plot though

Or, to put it another way, money is f**k all when you've got plenty of it. Try getting through this shit worrying about how to feed your family.  >:(

It's all relative, of course.

No money can cause it's own problems of worry, anxiety, and depression.

Too much money seems to create the same problems.... plus becoming paranoid. I'm somewhere in the middle which is why I am the happy well-balanced individual who brings such joy to this forum..... ::) ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D

I am considering offering 20% pay cut just to keep my job... 12 people into four jobs does not go, and a cut in my pay would cover the company redundancy cost...

Money makes you more of what you already are... If you're of a philanthropic nature, then you become more so... If you're an asshole, you become more so.

Probably a pretty accurate assessment.

There are plenty of extremely unhappy people who happen to be extremely wealthy.......and plenty of people who don't have a pot to piss in who seem inordinately happy.

Donald Trump doesn't seem to smile much. :)

Just as it was after WW2 when the Americans bailed us out financially, I can see them taking advantage of what will be our weak financial situation to work the post-Brexit trade deals, that will become a priority again, in their favour. :(

Or perhaps we should at last just become the 51st State of the USA!! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;)

If Trump continues to be as deluded, they might end up worse off than us. :(

Not money loaned at 'mates rates' though Lizzie. Just an opportunity for business.

Not much philanthropic about the yanks. :) :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Oh yes indeed, but they had just saved us all from a very evil fate, costing them a total, for the whole war, of 418,000 American (UK, 450,000) lives so they had some justification in doing so in our capitalist world. ;)

If America pushes too hard in our efforts to do a trade deal, then the Chinese would be delighted to offer us very favourable terms I'm sure. The mere mention of this would put Donald back in his box.

When the markets open properly, there's going to be lots of new chinqy share holders of big companies worldwide, how best to takeover the competition.

Yes it's not the Americans we need to be worried about but the Chinese, as they are undoubtedly poised to buy up struggling businesses across the western world.  >:(

I would rather the British government take on another £1 trillion of debt so that they can buy shares and controlling interests in struggling British businesses that are otherwise profitable and keep them afloat until better times. The shares can then be sold off later when the economy has recovered and the Treasury should make a profit.  :y

China must not be allowed to profit or gain power from this nightmare that they have inflicted on us!  >:(

They were happy enough to do that in 2007 when it was the banks, after all. ;)

They did, and then Gideon went and sold the bank shares for a loss...  ::)

Dick.  >:(

Still not quite as moronic as Gordon Brown selling the country's gold reserves and notifying the world in advance of his cunning plan!  ::)
