Hi OOF members,
Advice wanted but not technical so posting here. I am thinking of selling two older cars (1 Omega and 1 golf), but, am not using e-bay/autotrader again as ended up with hundreds of stupid questions when trying to sell an X3 a couple of years ago - despite an entirely complete and honest description. In the end I sold it to a garage, for less money, but also less hassle.
Does anyone have experience of buying and selling cars on the local Facebook hubs? Please please let me know if this is a bad idea as I don’t want to get into the autotrader situation again.
I have bought car parts on FB before - but, only from recommended people.

Bought my RRS Last September via Facebook (buy it sell it swap it) was bought from its second owner who had a fully documented history of the vehicle from new,he allowed me to drive it for as long as I wanted etc. I obviously did the required checks via a website re finance , insurance history etc all positive offered him a deposit which he declined, as he was happy with my word & a handshake collected the vehicle a few days later and paid in cash.

Out of interest was it all local?
My hope was that the FB route would be motel likely to keep things local. Most of the BS I have had in the last were from London and Birmingham based individuals.

Yes it was local to me I live in Spalding Lincolnshire, bought the car from Cowbit approximately 5 miles from my home.

Thanks - sounds like a viable option. Population density near me is far less than the Midlands and Home Counties so we always seem to have a limited market.

And such a good car that it's had the purchase price spent on it again :D
Not that I can talk... Got a whole 400 miles out of my new car before the EIS completely shat itself ::)

Car cost me £7000 & I took it to an independent to have it brought up to my standard for approximately £900 hardly anywhere near the purchase price, money well spent in my opinion.
