Omega General Help / 2.2 ongoing problems
« on: 29 November 2014, 20:22:33 »
I've had P0170-02 'Lean Exhaust' for a while, with tough running on startup.

Now it's running rough all the time and I ve got a real collection of codes!

P0170 'lean exhaust'
P1700 'svs request via can'
P0130 'O2 sensor 1 incorrect signal'

And in the tcu:

P1781 'CAN receives error'
P1740 'torque control failure detected'

Had a good look around and noticed positive battery terminal very hot and dropping almost 2 volts in the terminal - re-made that but things don't seem any better.

Any thoughts?

Omega General Help / Brake switch
« on: 29 November 2014, 13:19:47 »
Fitting cruise to the 2.5, but it doesn't have the correct brake switch and I don't current have the correct one with my kit.

Getting it out despite being very careful, pulling the pin out against the ratchet and sliding the sleeve forward, both retaining clips snapped so now I have no brake lights!

The 2.2 is poorly in other ways so would the brake switch on there be the same? If so how on earth to I get it out it out without damage?

Any advise appreciated.

General Car Chat / Zafira Oil Filter Housing
« on: 11 November 2014, 14:33:03 »
Does anyone have an experience of these leaking?

Have a slight oil leak onto exhaust on a colleges car and he has been advised to change the whole housing at aprox £500 parts a lab.

I can get the part for him slightly less on TC - but is it really likely the housing would leak? Why not just change the seals?

General Discussion Area / First bad NHS experience today
« on: 09 November 2014, 22:45:44 »
I'm normally a big NHS fan, but do see what people complain about now.

Father  in law taken into hospital and I am sure we get better service at the vets than from the hospital! A lot of it seemed Sunday lack of staff, resources, departments being closed on Sunday's all causing arrival at 1030 and no pain relief or consultant until 1620. What I can't forgive is the total rudeness of the consultant when trying to talk about some of the issues! Ranging from acting as if I m invisible, to go away I ll be with you when I'm ready to no I can't explain anything, why don't you just ask your Dad!

He is there with DVT / suspected stroke so not some minor issue,a few minutes to just talk to patients and relatives is a basic surely? I d be up for a new job treating my customers that way!

Back tomorrow for round 2!  >:(

"Hi James, thanks for letting me know.

If you have a fuel pressure regulator around that would be really helpful diagnosing the 2.2  :y

Omega General Help / Estate Fuel Filter Change
« on: 05 October 2014, 16:09:57 »
So I got the correct tool for releasing the fuel filter clips, one comes off no problem the other stubbornly refused until the pipe snapped.  :(

So what to do now? Do VX still sell the broken part? Anyone have a part number? How on earth do you get up behind the diff to fix the other end of the replacement part it to the metal pipe?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Omega General Help / V6 - post water pump leak cam belt
« on: 26 August 2014, 09:07:02 »
So my water leak was a shot water pump, which will be replaced today. Cam belt looks ok, has 2 year or 30K on it which ever comes first but should I change is as it got a dose of coolant? I am tempted as the cost seems minimal for the parts, but do I need the full locking / setting kit at £100+ ? Or is that only to set the timing and a couple of Cam locking wedges will suffice?

Omega General Help / v6 water leak
« on: 24 August 2014, 09:49:34 »
So car went really well to Yorkshire and back after changing thermostat and cam covers gaskets. Yesterday had to go to London and almost home the aux belt starts screeching.

When looking in the dark at 2am front of engine, alternator, belt all wet with coolant and header bottle half empty.

Any normal causes in that area? Water pump?

Finished the above, which took much longer than I thought only to find its misfiring. No lights of codes logged but definitely misfiring. I've checked and triple checked I've not left anything disconnected and plug leads are on the correct plugs.

Anything I should be looking for? (HT leads and plugs are new as the old ones were oil soaked)

Many thanks

I can't find any of these of TC website. Does that mean they are retail price only?

Is it possible to login to Trade Club Website using ABS membership? Or is it only possible to get prices at dealer?

Many thanks

Omega General Help / Ongoing 2.2 (petrol) problems
« on: 16 July 2014, 14:33:01 »
A concise summary - running very rough when first start, now cold, or warm - if hot it runs ok. Under very hard acceleration (up hill when moving fast) it hesitates somewhat. P1130, P0136 and P0170 being logged regularly.

So far I have checked induction and exhaust, changed lambda sensors for known good, same for CAM sensor, stripped breathers and throttle body and cleaned, checked timing, changed plugs, coil pack and fuel and air filter. I just seems to be getting slowly worse and worse.

I feel like I may have to admit defeat, but thought I would ask here once more :-) (the V6 seems to have developed and spectacular cam cover oil leak with smoke etc so could really do with this one working while I fix that!)

Many thanks in advance.

Steve

General Car Chat / Trying to join ABS
« on: 07 July 2014, 07:45:35 »
Tried to join the forum and had the form sent to me - filled it in and e-mailed back. Chased a couple of times but nothing as yet. How long dosed it normally take? Should I just send money by PP rather than waiting for reply to form?

Omega General Help / 2.2 Petrol removing front Lambda Sensor
« on: 18 June 2014, 13:52:29 »
Is there any advise here? I can get suitable tool on, but there does not seem to be any space to actually turn them? Does the down pipe have to come off?

Many thanks

Steve :D
