Title: Estate rear wiper
Post by: kev2b4 on 23 October 2014, 09:35:47
Where is the best place to get a rear wiper blade that actually bends to follow the curve of the glass?

Possibly VX dealer?

A perrennial problem. I eventually bought one from VX, but it still doesn't completely sweep the expected area. ??? :y

In my experience it's the spring in the actual arm that weakens over time and a new replacement arm and blade makes it all clear and bright again.  :y

........ or you could try exercising the spring hinge with some lubricant on it. Take care to keep the lubricant off the glass though.

On thinking about it , the spring would appear to be a likely culprit, as have tried both arms that have available,

Lubricant on glass! if that happens I suppose would have to bring the 6 monthly wash cycle forwards!

I wash mine at least once a week, taking great care only to use pure rain water, having clean windows on your house helps as you can then see the how well the rain is doing washing your car from the comfort of your own home.  ;)

A fine choice! Organic water, I imagine, too, yes?  :)

Car gets washed more frequently than the company van ( semi-self cleaning), usually try and do it when is raining - thus saving using a leather,
myself - 3 times a year - Christmas, Easter and Birthday whether I need it or not- unfortunately two of those are fairly close together- making this time of year someone to be avoided!

That's what sorted mine; I bought a replacement moulded arm(for a Corsa I think although it was listed for an Omega) and an aero blade. That came to under £25 for the arm and all three blades. Spending £7 on the thee blades makes me more likely to change them every couple of years when they are worn out.

Just replaced my blade with a genuine VX one and it is still rubbish, so suspect I need a new arm :-(

Have you tried the 'tweaking' of the spring idea yet?
