Spare 7.5A ignition feed?
« on: 26 April 2008, 21:11:35 »

Normally, when i fit something into a car i can use an unused slot in a fusebox somewhere given there's normally something not fitted.  I looked at the back of the fusebox (under the steering wheel) and there appears to be nothing which is spare!  Mine isn't fully loaded by all means (appears to just have std CD fitments for the year) - thought i might be able to pinch the aircon fuse point (not fitted on mine), but there's no feed wire to that fuse either!

To cut to the chase..anywhere anyone can suggest to pick up a 7.5A igntion controlled feed?

Have looked at (things not fitted)..

Traction Control
Aircon
Electric seats (but they are electric up/down and heated)

Help???

There's a relay that switches power to the rear cigar lighter socket that's a dedicated circuit, IIRC. Taking a feed from that's probably your best bet.

The LPG ECU...rear cig lighter sounds like a good bet, actually as i can't ever see me using that!

In that case, get the feed from the engine bay. There's a black wire to the main ECU that's an ignition switched feed. Use this to feed a relay fed via a fuse from the battery or alternatively feed it directly. If it's anything like the AC ECU it will take its' main feed from the permanent 12v feed and just uses the ignition feed as a switching signal.

There's also a relay in the relay box by the battery that switches power for all the engine electrics (one of the purple ones. The one closest to the engine IIRC).
