Intrigued..........nearly bought one recently for a "toy" as it was dirt (£400) cheap. Always thought it was a rebodied corsa, so would be ok, and easy to work on, using corsa bits to improve it a bit.
Whats to watch out for??  (its still for sale)

They rust, 1.4 engines suffer with cam roller problems, little or no space in the back, condensation in the back windows, leaky engines... the list goes on.

They dont seem to be very easy to sell on either unless there cheap enough to take a chance.

Theres plenty more alternatives out the for the price and insurance group.

Sounds like miss informed info to me.

They have all the same issues as the Corsa B....nothing more.

Cambelt and tensioners need replacing at the correct intervals, no big deal and easy to do.

They rust no worse.

Only steam up when the pollen filter is neglected or some muppet has damaged the boot seal.

I have worked on dozens of them and still find few issues.

Quite a fun sprightly little motor for little cash

As with any car u get good n bad ones, its the luck of the draw. And yes they can be a fun little car, not very good tho if ur a tall person like me!  ;D

Hmm, well this ones a bit high on the millage, just over 100k, but does have FSH, recent Service, the Guys just done a bundle on new Brakes, Exhaust and Cambelt so He knows He's not going to get His money back on the Car.

Some very slight Panel Surface rust but not eaten through, nothing that I shouldn't be able to put right.

I'd have one as something to chuck around and they stick like         to a blanket.

Would make a fun and cheap track day car as well

Nah, no worse than a Corsa and the parts are the same for a huge percentage of the parts.

I wonder how many were due to the dealers incompitence during servicing and work (sorry, been seeing to many issues by incompitent Vx dealers just recently)

Well, picked one up today for my son, had the added benifit of being LPG on a 1.4, runs sweet, did a brim to brim on lpg on the way back, averaged 44mpg on Lpg, think I worked that out backwards on costs with petrol bit like over 80 mpg against petrol costs, well impressed.

Thier pretty nippy round the corners! Bit like driving a go-kart, think I going to rename it mini mig.

Typical VX 'Stealers' any excuse to bump the bill up higher than ever.  ANY car is 'problematic' and 'difficult to work on' when your in the business of ripping off charging customers for your 'overpriced' service!!  >:(

(recently quoted £160+vat, to change a 2.5TD's glowplugs!! by my local stealer. Wanted £15+vat per plug, FFS. Actually did the job meself, NGK plugs, £4.75 each from the local factor)  :y

Unfortunately not many people know/realise just how much manufacturers do this :(

Not a bad car for a yoof I guess, torque steer is quite amusing, firm suspension, cam belt fairly easy, no more grief than any other front wheel drive although maybe a tad less access on average. Sun roof pops up when the glass boot lid is shut on the one opposite us, and I have to have the sun roof open to drive it  ;D

It has been reliable though.
