Hearing aids
« on: 29 December 2021, 11:32:55 »

Wifey just told me that one of her teachers has bought new, Bluetooth enabled hearing aids. The teacher can listen to music from her phone or link them to a Bluetooth enabled tv and turn the volume up on the aids to save everyone else from being deafened by the telly. And much more......

My Grandad had a very modern selective hearing aid that allowed him to hear who he wanted to hear, which wasn't often my Nan!  ;D

Thanks for the link.  :y  Something for me to look in to as I've been meaning to get hearing aids for some time now but covid meant that I'd rather steer clear of people so I kept putting it off.
I've had the audiology checks done and I'm completely deaf in my left ear and have severe hearing loss in my right ear. I have severe tinnitus as well, in my deaf ear ironically. TV volume is not an issue as I have subtitles switched on but, if I try to listen to it, I hear just a load of mumbling. It's impossible for me to have a conversation with someone if somebody loud is close by, so I just get labelled as ignorant if I can't communicate.
I expected to pay around £3K anyway so it's something worth looking at, before my Mrs stabs me to death for ignoring her.  ;D

Ah, those were the days. Creep up behind Nan or Grandad and do a low pitched whistle, and then watch them fiddling with their hearing aids because they thought they'd gone off frequency.  ;D

Doesn't seem so funny now I'm hard of hearing.   :(

Igot a ZVOX soundbar for xmas. Specifically for speech

So far it is  doing the job. It improves speech on tv ans reduces the background noise ( eg music, sound effects and so on which often are deafening unlike the mumbling especially anything from the USA

My disabled great granddaughter[being largely deaf is one of her disabilities] got some of those a couple of months ago.Now she can sit beside you playing games/music on her phone and you can't hear a thing from them but she of course can. It's the same if she wants to play on her games console on TV she has in her bedroom instead of the volume being up to the max annoying everyone else it's now silent to all but her. :y

Ive got a pair of Phonak, (due to Shack ear), they are excellent, although I’ve never used the Bluetooth. One tip, buying online (with an audiology report) saved me almost 50%.
