My only advisory last time was handbrake.Im going to have to bite the bullet and do something about it before September. ::)
I suspect it will also need wishbones,or at least front bushes.MOT man is an extremely good mechanic,so I will ask him to have a good look at front/rear bushes and balljoints,and then decide whether to replace the wishbones or just replace the front bushes with polybushes.

Basic checks a few weeks before you take it.
Tyres / brakes / brake pipes (quick rub down and spray / coat in white / copper grease)
Wire brush the edges of the brake discs.
If your spare is dodgy, remove before you mot the car  ;)

On the Misses Focus last year, one of the advisories was slight corrosion on the brake pipes. So when I got it back I rubbed them & greased them all, was only a little surface rust. So before this one I had a cursory look and just re-greased them, now the advisory is ' Grease on the brake lines'  ::) ::) ::)

If you have a spare tyre in the car, it must be road legal  ;)

Have been overseas for a bit and had my mig stood up while I was away. I always check before I take it and finish last years advisories if needed. So far this year I have found 2 rear brake pipes corroded, rear doughnut bushes split, both wheel arches finally rusted through, both sills holed, rear seam rusted through in places, rear s/l shock leaking(air), hand brake poor. The part of me that has to fix it wants to scrap her, the part of me that drives her will want to keep her.

Well at least the list gets shorter  :-\

2 wishbones
Cam belt kit
Head gasket + valve stem seals + water pump
General greasing up underneath

 ::)

At least when its all done i can sit back in agony and be sure nothing else needs doing  :-X

Still can't get my head round 'advisories' - I think it's probably good and bad  ???
