Omega General Help / Re: Hubcentric wheel spacers
« on: 18 May 2013, 13:55:55 »
Fitting spacers will have the same effect as reducing your wheels offset. You don't fit spacers and then new alloys with higher offset...

8x17 ET35 + 15 mm spacers in my front axle, 50 mm lowered, no problems with the arches.

Hi,

The spacers bolted to the hub (and wheels to them) can't be so thin, IIRC the min width is 25 mm for this system, the bolt heads must be "inside" the spacer so you have to use the other ones with longer bolts for 25 mm or less wheel spacing.

The max rear wheel spacers you can fit without touching the arches depends on:

1. Alloys width and offset.
2. Tyre size.
3. Saloon or state.

If you want to fit them in the front axle, the spacers must not have the centering ring. The max width depends also on the alloys and tyre size.

General Car Chat / Re: Wanted!! lowering shocks and springs

What about these?

http://www.ebay.de/itm/KAW-PlusKit-SPORTFAHRWERK-Opel-Omega-B-Lim-B-50-35-2060-3050-2-/370757688238?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item5652e15bae

There are also lower springs for the front, same as above but 65/35. You can also get only the springs and fit them with better quality shocks.

I think the Elegance was a mix between the CD and the CDX, I've seen Elegances without leather, without nav, with telephone (2015) but without CID... so, if the buyer didn't add any toys when buying the car from the dealer, i think the Elegance was like your CD. The most you add, the most you "CDX" your Omega..

Our Elite was called Executive but with some differences... it's a mess.. only sold with 3.2 engine, not all the Executives had sunroof and all your Elites have it.. so if you wanted a full equiped 2.6, like your Elites, you had to buy an Elegance and charge it with all the toys, there was not a 2.6 Executive like your 2.6 Elite.

Here the facelifts were only sold under 3 spec levels, Sport, Elegance and Executive. I've seen omegas imported from Germany badged as "special edition" with grooved seats and "greenish" black leather..

I think they are two different ways of selling cars... i may be wrong, but in UK, if you bought a new Elite, you didn't add extra equiment cos the car came with all the possible equipment, here you could buy an Executive without sunroof, if you wanted it, you had to order the car to factory with the charge of the sunroof... So, you could buy the lower spec one and start adding equipment.. and you could also buy the highest specs one but it came with less or different toys than your Elites.

Prefacelifts 3.0 for example, were only sold under MV6 badge, but they hadn't sport seats or leather, you had to add it from factory. 2.0 16v were only GLS... 2.5 only CDX IIRC  ???

Hi, here are some pics of my 2001 2.6 Elegance. In my hands since 2007.

I thought i had bought a saloon, but it was a confortable offroad :)

After a full service, some changes came: Wheels, lowered springs and shocks, dark side indicators, debadged, front grill...

Not too many km for 12 years

Now, she has a new exhaust fitted (no pic) and more scratches on the bodywork (i need a gun  >:(). The bodywork will be resprayed in summer (if i has cash!).

Omega General Help / Rear brake pads & shims
« on: 15 May 2013, 10:33:56 »
Hi,

I've purchased a GM rear brake pads set to replace the old ones, it comes with pins, springs and metal shims. The pads have also glued shims so, should i put something between the pads and the metal shims? Cooper grease, double sided tape?

I've read here that it's recommended putting a bit of this grease between the caliper piston and the pads, in the springs, pins, etc.. but between the pads and the shims?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Hi,

I've to replace one of these 3 relays. I've seen them removing the soundproofing trim under the dash but i don't know if i could gain access removing the small glovebox on the left (LHD) and attack them from the side of the dashboard.

There's no much room behind the fuse panel so it may be a bit difficult to remove anything (tight, i presume) from there, and my big hands won't help.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: CID in "full" use
« on: 13 May 2013, 17:51:12 »
This car has fiited an interface with a switch so you choose what do you want to see. The rev camera view switches on with the rev sensor in the gear stick.

The guy that sells the interfaces also repairs the common CID problems (stripes, blank screen) very cheap.

That is the car of a mate. He has an iPod connected to the interface.

2013 + CID here. I've replaced the battery twice, even sent the CID to repair (blank screen issue) and I've never had to use the code. I think it's not needed if you don't replace the screen or unit, so they keep paired.

Cheers

Did one card a couple of days ago... No more pin rattles and the door card is attached again.
