Ah, I forgot the "throttle open" part of the procedure.  :-[
Next thing is charge the battery a bit and remove the plugs on 246 bank, as I Wwant to test them anyway. Then start again with throttle open. Cheers.  :y

The first question to answer is, did you remove the plug leads (particularly at the DIS pack end) and if so, are they connected correctly (as the 2-4-6 bank is not the 'obvious' connection order)

Ok, all plugs removed, throttle wide open. 246 bank  - 185, 180, 185.
135 bank  - 185, 167, 148.
The 148 concerns me a bit. Its not desperately low, but low enough for a chipped or slightly bent valve ? I honestly dont know.  :-\
If I get time between nightshifts, I will strip it back down to recheck the cam timing.
If thats ok, as I suspect it will be, do I start searching for a 135 head ?  :-\

Although Im far from an expert, I would have thought so too. Although the fact its quite a bit lower than the others is a bit of a concern. From memory, the minimum should be around 170psi ?
I will check cam timing again as soon as I get a chance, and go from there.
Thanks.  :y

If you had bent a valve the compression would be in the double digits for that cylinder, particularly at starting rpm.

Re-trace your steps, check the connections carefully, check the large breather pipe where it attaches to the oil separator, make sure its not split.

Did you leave kitchen roll in any of the ports?

It's a nightmare keeping track around here sometimes  ;D

On a related note, make sure that the CP plugs are fully home, likewise the throttle body one ;)

Early today, drove the Battlebus to the Postoffice. Then drove it home again to get a mask, and drive back down the Postoffice. ;D

Just as I arrived back home the 2nd time, my phone made that lovely kerrching noise, so back down the PO for a 3rd time ;D

Now, having an urge for pizza and San Miguel, just drove past the PO to the Coop.

Poor bus doesn't know whats hit it - more journeys today than all of lockdown combined ;D

Intercarparts use DX Delivery - part arrived 7.15am today instead of last Saturday. Focus tailgate trim came without new bolts or seal so had to clean up the old stuff. Seller now telling me I agreed next working day delivery until I sent them their confirmation email. Job done but pretty inconvenient. Total silence from Seller and DX over weekend.

Swapped out the rear calipers to try and resolve a persistent brake squeal...

Better, but not quite eliminated, so will see if it improves with use otherwise it will be new pads :-\

On an Omega, or something else? I have a little squeal from the back of my MV6, but only occassionally.  I have sourced some OE pads with the anti squeal backing that I'll fit next time.
or I might have a slightly sticking piston perhaps.

The Barge.

There was some damage to the piston faces, but the discs and pads were new genuine Merc, so calipers were the likeliest culprits. Replacement calipers are second hand but visibly better. The issue was worse hot, but only evident when braking, so again pointing towards the service brakes rather than the handbrake...  ;)

Checked the large breather pipe today. It was fine.
Covered the ports with one large cloth, rather than the usual stuffing kitchen roll down them, so shouldnt be any issue there.
Took the cover off today and checked the cam timing again and it was spot on.
It may look slightly out on the pics, but that was just the camera angle.

Crank lock in position

cams 1&2.

Cams 3&4.

Unless someone can spot something obvious Im missing, the plan now is to carefully reassemble everything, then fire it up.
If it still runs lumpy.....................fark nose.  :-\ ???
