I would clean the switch with contact cleaner and change the ATF and filter. If that doesnt solve the problem then choose between getting it tech 2,d or get one from one of the breakers on here, normally no more than £100, and change the box. :y

Snow mode switches itself off above a certain speed. :y
Im no expert but I would be suspecting the switch.

Definately the selector switch. Take it off, clean all the gunge out and spray with lots of switch cleaner (from maplins or similar).

had exactly the same problem with a V*ctra V6 auto I had a few years ago - definitely the selector switch.

All gunked up and shorted out inside, so got another one (not new, mind) and sorted in a stroke. ;)

to me its a bad design that any engine fault can put your box into safe mode.it would be far better to put engine into limp mode so you can carry on driving without revving nuts off yer box and burn it out.the codes kept saying maf sensor 0100 and p1700 pending, the p1700 was transmission in safe mode pending the maf replacement.new maf clear codes and hey presto lovely jubbly :)

What Does The Air Flow Sensor Do?

The air flow sensor converts the amount of air drawn into the engine into a voltage signal, the vehicles electronic control unit needs to know the air intake air volume to be able calculate engine load in order to determine how much fuel to inject, when to ignite the cylinder, and for automatic vehicles when to shift the transmission
