The Lakes Meet is just around the corner which is a Gorgeous place. I know we usually work on cars which is great but at the Lakes the ground is not the surface you really want to be lying under cars, not so bad doing some engine work etc where you ain't lying down.
Last year a few of us went down into Keswick to the pencil museum, the funhouse place which were great but personally I would not go again.
I would however go again to the Indoor Rock Climbing Wall that was so much fun for around £10. Hotel21 also took his handheld satnav device and again had great fun doing Geocaching, which is like a treasure hunt which was brilliant fun for free.

Would anyone else fancy doing anything like this to make it a fun weekend too?

General Discussion Area / Omega Club at VBOA Meets?
« on: 11 June 2012, 00:43:03 »
I went to the VBOA meet at Billing a year or two back to see more types of Vauxhall Clubs than I honestly thought Vauxhall ever did. I saw the Cresta Club, Manta Club, Chevette Club, Viva Club, but what make of Vauxhall did not have a Club?
Now my thought was when I saw this Cresta that my Grandad in Law spoke highly off was that it must be near on a 50 year old car. Would the Omega last 50 years? Will the Forum last 50 years?
Now I know OOF was started by the Guys that want it to be free to everyone, and that there are certain things that need to be done to become a "Proper VBOA Club" but what if OOF had another part to it as well as the free help side? Not a higher or lower ranking system or anything like that, but a Club Section that like minded members who would like to show their Pride and Joys in the same inviroment as the other Vauxhall Clubs. Could this be a way of letting the Omega also live on for its 50 year mark?
I know that the Admin Team have enough on their plates to run the Forum, so perhaps their could be a member elected to run this idea as Their Baby obviously keeping the Admin Team up to date on whats happenng etc..
I would assume this Club side of OOF would need to pay a yearly subscription fee, where you would get a sticker, a pen, half yearly magazine or something along those lines like other Clubs.

Any ideas, constructive critisms, points of view all welcome

Cheers

General Car Chat / Why an Omega??
« on: 20 May 2012, 00:59:41 »
Whilst out walking the dog tonight Mrs. Loo-knee mentioned that I seem enthusiastic about this new estate I have bought. So I started to wonder why I actually was feeling this way about it......

With owning quiet a few now over the years plus working on a few, I got rather bored with them. So I got rid of my Omega then had a few different cars. Jag, Peugeot 206 hdi, Range Rover, Subaru to name a few.

Not alot drives & handles in my opinion like a Subaru Impreza. But you do start drive regularly like a moron, plus loads of people want to try and burn you off. So decided to get shut of it partly before I either hurt myself, someone or got knicked by the Boyz in Blue.
I may have to be doing long journeys before long and so did think about another 206 hdi as the amount of miles you get out of a tank of diesel, is just wrong ;D I used to keep knocking the fuel gauge thinking, "Something must be wrong with this!" But I want to be able to get out and walk freely without my back being in two when I arrive....
We have a dog but I hate nothing more than bloody dog hair on the seats, or that he has had a swim and got to get in the back wet.....so an estate is really needed..

And so I have bought "Jabba" the estate that has made me appreciate the Omega more than ever. It ticks all the boxes I need in a car. The fuel (depending on what cars you have been used too) isn't to bad in my book either. Its comfortable, goes pretty well (especially after after driving a Disco for a while, sorry Venom  ;D ;D).

So there are my reasons, whats yours?

116
Had one but cant find it, its the sort of string vest that hangs from the roof  ;D

This must be the only program I have not wanted to miss.
Brilliant, constantly changing my mind, is he isn't he?

What do you reckon?

I have been saying for a few weeks to mother in law that Brodie's daughter somehow will save the day..

Hope Damian Lewis is in the next series. He is also fantastic in Band of Brothers, if he have not seen it, its a must  :y
