Hand washing falls into the same category as not coughing or sneezing at people and has been an ingrained expectation for as long as I can remember.
and wearing a mask in public is now ALSO a common courtesy now  ;)

Not wishing to breathe in cement dust or lead paint flakes is also common sense, although smoking is probably more dangerous than anything else you are trying to avoid which rather makes everything else moot as you'll probably end up in hospital anyways.

Like I said, if it makes you feel better then that's fine but preaching whilst smoking would be somewhat hypocritical...  ;)

The only people who set out to go to hospital are drug addicts with no money.

Like I said ,wearing masks protects other people  ::)
It's not about me feeling better  :-X

as for Smoking , smokers are less likely to be ill with covid than non smokers or people who quit smoking last I heard  ;D

I'm not preaching , follow whichever religion or don't  ;D

I imagine I will get ill one day ,go to hospital ,even die one day  :P

I just choose NOT to get run over by the Covid bus if possible  ,or throw other people under it

I wear a mask

(as per the thread title )

I did see this  :o
Can't see how he got cars without insuring them, tax and V5 etc
unless he just borrowed cars and someone was enabling him  :-\

What proportion of those are admitted because of Covid? Are admitted for something else but test positive? and catch Covid whilst in hospital?  ???
that's admitted to hospital because they have covid and need treatment  ,not just admitted to hospital and happened to have covid  ::)

Yesterday France had 31,271 Covid-19 patients in hospital, the UK 16,149, so
why bring France into it  ::)

thats 16,149 UK hospital beds that could be used for the 6 million waiting list
yes wearing masks reduces Covid cases and saves lives.  ::)

Good  :y
I'm glad you agree  :D

Did you do any of that before 2020?

If not, why not?
I've worn a mask many times over the years when there has been a risk of airborne particles which are hazardous to health, along with other PPE , not just me though ,masks/PPE have been available for quite a while  ::)
been wearing a mask in shops etc since BEFORE the first lockdown   :)

I also washed my hands EVEN BEFORE Covid  ;D

Disinfected things that may have germs on PRE Covid  :y

Have many first aid kits for minor injuries and try and avoid serious injury

thus NOT being a burden on the NHS

I do pay for my dentist and opticians appointments/treatment

He caught it in his first week there. Everyone else had already had it.

You can't say for sure where or when "He" caught it  ::)
But you avoided my question ::)

What question ?

I wore a mask to make someone else feel better and I still caught it...  ;D
the whole idea of mask wearing is to protect other people  ::)
though it does offer the wearer some protection too
Said person is Incidentally the only person on his shift who wears a mask, and he still caught it.
maybe more people should wear mask then on his shift  ::)

And fitting a dressing properly would have saved a space for someone else.
not having 2,500 covid patients per day would save 2500 spaces for someone else  ;)

which is why many people wear masks

which is ,at the end of the day ,what this thread is meant to be about

If I never where a mask again, then it will be a day too soon.

I don't wear a mask and find it amusing when I see people alone in their cars wearing one while they drive.

Wearing masks is to protect other people and stop the NHS getting overwhelmed
obviously something you aren't interested in
as long as you are OK  ::)
The NHS is always overwhelmed by something.

They will be overwhelmed by a massive staff shortage if the vaccination mandate goes ahead. Next winter it will be various types of flu, next summer dehydration and heatstroke.

People wear masks alone in their car because they are afraid, not to protect anyone.

If it makes you feel better, then that's great, but don't expect everyone to feel, or act, the same way.
I don't wear a mask when alone in my car  ::)
I do wear a mask in shops and whilst visiting other households etc ,
I social distance when possible, disinfect mail, shopping etc

all pretty simple ,low cost measures that sensible people take

I find it amusing that the mask wearing proponents hold themselves up as intellectually superior

You'd have to be pretty stupid to ignore the FACT that wearing a mask reduces transmission  :y
but think that a scrap of cheap Chinese cloth over their face (that has been described by virologists as trying to stop a mosquito with a chain link fence) will make a difference.  :P
Any evidence that even wearing low quality masks WON'T reduce transmission  ?
There is plenty of evidence that face coverings and masks have reduced transmission and saved lives .
Even the NHS insist on masks  :P

Or are you just trying to justify NOT wearing a mask because you can't be bothered or don't care about anyone else ?
Incidentally, France continues to post up big Covid infection numbers despite having one of the strictest mask mandates and general restrictions in Europe.  ::)

353,503 new infections yesterday compared to the UK's 89,176 from similar testing data.  Plague island indeed.  :)
The French eat snails and frogs legs and live in France ,so hardly a great example  ::)

Over 2 thousand Covid hospital admissions a day In the UK  :(
that's hospital beds NOT available to the 6 million person waiting list the UK has  ::)

Whist it is no longer mandatory to wear a mask ,even the government recommend wearing on in shops/public transport etc

Wearing a mask reduces Covid cases ,saving lives

To add to the masks, and this is really ridiculous, the school has now received nine air purifiers. Wifey looked online and they are £1900 each. Jeez.......
Plan B measures dropped and we have to live with Covid (or die with it  :-X)
the WHO and top scientists have said don't just treat Covid as FLU ,it's more serious AND mask wearing is very important .
Record number of 6-17 year-olds being admitted to hospital with Covid
highest ever infection in the community .
Another variant twice as transmittable as Omicron spreading like wildfire.
Every new infection is a possible mutation .
No one can guarantee that new mutations won't get more deadly despite the optimism .
no one knows the long term effects of Covid or vaccines

So £10,000 spent on reducing Virus and improving air quality in the air in a school is peanuts*

*Compared to hospital /NHS costs , Teachers & parents having time off work etc etc
Do the maths, Dave. 9x1900.

Dave doesn't keep a calculator under his bed!  ;D
I've got carpet, floorboards ,that's about it under the bed  ;)
I don't even keep money under there  :D

What about the cobwebs?  ;)
Nope , it's a water bed
nothing can get under MY bed without a tunnel boring machine ,not even Covid  ;D

Omega General Help / Re: Crank sensor x20xev
« on: 29 January 2022, 12:59:24 »
One of our Omegas got a bad crank sensor. 1994 x20xev. Paperclipped it and got a code 19. The car is very hard to start and backfires stumbles before it fires up.
Paperclip test throws a 19 code every time if the engine isn't running .
have you checked the CTS ?
a VERY COMMON issue and doesn't throw a code always .

I imagine that when purchasing thousands of units the buyer asked for a discount and didn't just accept the "googled price"  ;)
9 units at 1 school ,there's a lot of schools  :P

Shouldn’t be expensive it looks a bit like an Omega
you can't get the parts new now
It cost Lizzies insurance about 7 grand to fix her bumper   :P

It wasn’t just the bumper I’m afraid, but a list of front end parts damage. :-X
so you didn't just have your front "touched up" then  :D
