I think this is the same series that was shown on BBC4, unfortunately no longer available on iplayer.  As I was born in 1965, I was always aware of the war, and remember it ending, but never knew how it started.  This filled in all the gaps in my knowledge and made all the films based on the war make more sense (even though the war was senseless).  A must watch series for any baby boomers like me.

As promised, a rainy day today, so here are some interior shots

All ready for VBOA next month, let's hope for some good weather then.
Anyone else on here going to Sywell, 2nd-4th July?

Very nice. How much would you charge a customer for that set up?
Once they are jigged up, and with the simple twin pipe front section and no fancy tail trims they will cost around £990-£1068 depending on final materials cost.  All 1.5mm thick 304 SS and double skinned silencer boxes.  Single skinned boxes will be a bit cheaper to make but probably less refined, I haven't tried any on the Omega yet.  We also use the best internal packing materials so they don't burn out and sound tinny after a year or two like some SS systems do.  I realise it's a high price, but I already have had 2 or 3 Omega owners who want something like this which has OE sound levels.  RHD manifolds and cat downpipes are in development too...

Finally got a chance to try my prototype stainless system both with and without X-pipe.  I can't really tell the difference, and both versions are so much quieter than the previous longlife system, it makes cruising at 70 (with fully functional climate working :y) a much more pleasant experience

Next job is decorative tail trims trims, and I can't decide on satin black, satin stainless, brushed or mirror polished.
There is no other chrome on the MV6 so black is probably what I'll go for.

Finally got to find an appealing setting and decent light to show off the Satin Red paintwork on Y11 VXL better than a dreary day on the industrial estate...

Hoping for similar weather for VBOA show at Sywell early July

I think the Irmscher grill with a charcoal or body colour frame suits the facelift as the original grill is the only chome on the car and looks tacky for it.
+1 :y

Not seen it mentioned anywhere so thought I'd pop a link to the auction for the Vauxhall Heritage fleet downsizing, shiny T reg Elite up for grabs, what do you reckon it will fetch ?

https://auctions.manorparkclassics.com/auction/lot/lot-49---1999-vauxhall-omega-v6-elite/?lot=93&so=0&st=&sto=0&au=2&ef=&et=&ic=False&sd=0&pp=48&pn=2&g=1

The Vauxhall Heritage sale and this Omega was spotted a few weeks ago and the link posted on here........

I was really hoping that would fetch more.  I suppose that people who want an Omega have already got (at least) one, and probably don't need any more.

General Car Chat / Re: Spotted ex-Met estate for sale...
« on: 10 May 2021, 21:18:31 »
The Met weren't the first owners. When GM announced they were going to stop Omega production, TVP bought almost all the Special production from the last two months. The Met were behind the curve and had to buy whatever they could from the retail network (most of their larger cars were BMW 530ds at this point). This is why TVP had several 04/54 reg Omegas but the newest Met cars were 53.

Joff had an Elite 3.2 of theirs complete with CID and 17" six spokes... Similar age/reg and again a two keeper car.

Probably an ex dealership/VX management car retro fitted with plod 15" wheels/trims.

Zero options on it too... No CID for example. Suspect it was a Royal Protection car. Prince Charles had a manual 3.2CDX Estate in the same colour.
Green Elite used to be owned by the same guy that I bought my ex GMP-VIP MV6 from, apparently when he bought the estate it only had 2 destinations in the Sat Nav, Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace. He put all his cars on steel wheels, hence the strange combo. Mine is going back onto 17"s.
I would have liked to buy the estate as well, but it wasn't for sale then :-[
