Title: Euro Lottery - If you won it
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 24 February 2021, 13:33:09
£180M on offer.

A lot dont enter, but if you do.

What would be your 1st Purchase?   ::)

I think mine would be sending the Elite off for body strenthening, Brake (Carbon) mods & LS V8, maybe some add on's like twin turbos and NOS.  Rebuild the running gear, new paint job but keep the outside stock and then rent a race track to play on. 8)

Would make an ideal sleeper to catch people out.

1st purchase would be to pay off all my bills.

Second purchase would be the retainer of a very good accountant

Third purchase would be the retainer of a very good solicitor.

Nissan GTR x 2, one for me, one for my best mate. They'd do until I got a big enough garage/house.

Thanks.... :-* :-*

Third purchase would be the retainer of a very good solicitor.

That's one way of wasting your money. Me - I prefer the George Best approach. :D

Both good idea, I would just keep the bank balance out of the conversation. and the solicitors 1st job would be writeing my will as it would exclude all my new friends & new family that just appeared. :(

Plus banks, I would hate having a bank earning more from my money than I would be. :-\

A house on Lake Como and another on the Amalfi coast. A nice big house set in a few acres not too far from where I live now.
A fully equipped workshop in the grounds would be a must. As is a fishing lake.
A collection of nice cars and bikes, just to look at. Hopefully including a Gilles Villeneuve Ferarri, Mansell Williams, Senna McClaren ,one of Hamiltons earlier cars, and a Joey Dunlop TT bike - preferably an RC45.
A music studio with a nice collection of instruments, particularly guitars.
Buy nice houses for my kids, and thats about it. The rest of the world can far cough.  ;D
As you can probably tell, Ive never really given it any thought,  :D

A lot of what you posted would be on my list, My studio would have to sound profed though as I fancy a drum kit and a load of amps to do the back to the future thing with the guitar.

Which one? The bit where he plays one chord? Or the bit where his hand is disappearing whilst playing?

I cant play at all, I just want to make lots of noise.  How ever I do have a mate who is a singer and would show me how to go on with the studio, plus there are a few female friends that would be very entertaining on a stage after a few drinks & they can sing as well. :y :y

First thing is tell no one, I'd wait until there was an anonymous winner of around 5 million and tell my family I'd won that so they can set their expectations of my generosity on that sum. 180 million is a ludicrous amount of money

Second thing would be a month long holiday somewhere warm to get my head together

Third would be to build the best Art Deco house ever to grace these shores

Fourth would be to recreate the "Patrick collection" from the 80's

Fifth , I'd buy the wife a new handbag  ;D

Wider ambition with a sum that great would be to build a small housing estate that would be gifted in trust to the local children's hospice and the rental income generated would cover all of their running costs for the next 50 yrs

I had a similar thought but using unemplyed to go into and learn the trade along experianced trade. and then give some homeless people a chance to a better life (especially the ex forces) and possibly a job.

So much money, so many good things could be done. :y

Very important this.....

Give somebody £100,000 and they won't be able to thank you enough. Give them £100,000 and then tell tell you have won £180 million and they will think you are a tight bastard.

Would that be 'mock ' Art Deco? :)

Empire State building and the Chrysler building are fine examples of Art Deco. :y

1) Pay off all my debts.
2) A nice low mileage L322 Range Rover or Discovery 4.
3) New left hip.
4) A boat.
5) I'd knock down my house and build a 'grand design'.
6) Maybe another boat. Narrow boat?
7) Travel.

A Georgian style house with a triple garage either side, no more than six vehicles at a time but would change them regularly until I found the perfect collection, a lot to a charity  that we already support, my three best friends would want for nothing. A lot of travel once I am satisfied that it is reasonably safe to do so probably  by private jet, a couple of Shire horses as both of us think that they are beautiful creatures.

You know that buying them is the cheap, affordable part of owning a Spitfire? That's true of any aeroplane, but the numbers are much larger with warbirds.

After the above . . . . .?
.
I have to say cars, any car, would be low on my priority list. Listen, I drive a Volvo, and had several Omegas. Nuff said.
.
The big spend would have to be a second home. Possibly upmarket suburbs of Marrakech, or maybe South of France. Marrakech is not everyone's cup-of-tea but we like it.

Actually, to be honest, I would fund a homeless shelter and an animal rescue to be run by my daughter. She would  love to spend her life helping people and animals who need help rather than doing the buy / sell shit every day.
Her heart is far to big to be working in the job she does.
Would also take swmbo to Memphis and Minneapolis as she is a big fan of Elvis and Prince and would like to visit their hometowns.
Probably send the Son to Vegas for a fortnight as he would bet on two flies crawling up a wall.
Pay someone to build me a Facelift Omega Elite with Lotus Carlton running gear for a bit of fun.

Always fancied an XJR-15 given that a CX75 is unachievable.

Of course, big house with lots of garages and a shed for the train would be good

When I was running our syndicate at work for the "normal" lottery if we had amassed a few quid I would sometimes buy some euro tickets but never won a single penny , had several small wins on the lotto with the syndicate though. My best win on my own ticket was £14,000 a few years back & I won £74 a couple of weeks ago, I've a pal who puts £10 a week on the Lotto and has never won a single penny since it started.

The normal National Lottery increased the number of balls a while back, on top of increasing the ticket price, thus the odds became very much worse. Before then I would get the occasional small win, enough to keep me interested, I once got £1,500. However, now it's pretty much pissing money up the wall. £180m? The Lottery likes to see these big numbers being thrown around as it's publicity, in reality however I would much rather have a better chance of getting just £1m, or less. I would not complain about £100K!

Always fancied an XJR-15 given that a CX75 is unachievable.

Of course, big house with lots of garages and a shed for the train would be good

If it's possible, I wonder what a private spur onto the rail network would cost.  ???

Think of a number, multiply it, multiply it again, then remember its Network Rail, add some more, factor a ten year time frame in, add a bit more.....then realise even the euro millions could not cover it.   ;D

It took many many years for the ELR to be joined to the main line at Heywood  ;) I assume that was a money thing (as well as a bridge  ;D) )

I just do 6 quid a week now a couple of mates & myself ( £2 each) started it last June when I retired only a couple of small wins to date.

An unassuming newbuild warehouse type place with a glass corner for the 'house' to sit.

Possibly with boat access. And a runway. Although that would mean enough space for one and no immediate neighbours. Which would make for a long walk to the pub.

Give each of the kids a couple of million to be getting on with.
Make sure brothers/sisters were comfortably off.
Make sizeable donations to several charities.
Buy a bungalow[edge of village location in North Yorkshire]with a large barn or similar sized structure on it or enough land to build such a thing,to house 6-10 cars plus a Steam showmans engine+lessons in driving it and a steam powered calliope.
Learn falconry.

Just had this message pop up

Player notice – 22/03/21:

From 22nd April 2021, players will need to be 18 or over to play National Lottery games.

I allways thought they had to be over 18 to play.

Imagine a 16 year old winning the £175M a few weeks ago and not having a driving licence :-\
