Hi guys
not been on here much recently . . .2 reasons .. Had Covid quite bad , am sort of recovered now . . .but have the hanging on "Long Covid " symptons still. The other reason is I have to use the old PC upstairs to get onto the site, for some reason my laptop won't allow me access and says I am banned from the site . I know next to "nuffin" about I.T. etc. so just using upstairs PC for OOF access when something important comes up .
So just a heads up to say I am still about , as had a message or two from OOF members asking if i was OK ( thanks for that)
Regards, Al :y

Glad to hear you are recovering Al.
Good to see you posting. :y

Sorry to hear you've been very Ill
I hope your health picks up speedily and you get back to 100% very soon :)
Using a VPN seems to be a common problem when logging in to the OOF :-\
Hopefully someone more IT savvy than me :D might be able to advise how to resolve your laptop issue if VPN is the problem

Sorry to hear you've been poorly, Al, hopefully your health will improve with time. The wife wasn't too bad with the actual covid, but it took her quite a while to get her breathing back to normal.
I expect your recovery will take longer as she is quite young and you're a really old geezer. ;D

welcome back Al. Can you manage to pick up your Strat ? If you can, What you moaning about ?
If you cant, you have my deepest sympathy. :y ;D

Don't rush things, mate. Summer is coming, you have sun, sand and fresh air to look forwards to. Just try not to worry about things, and give your body time to recover properly :-*

Hi Albs Just been able to in last couple of weeks. I ordered one of the new Indonesian made Squier 50's strats just before I got the Covid. Only opened it to check it when it arrived , then stayed in the box for several weeks . Have set it up now and got the "Big Boys" 11 gauge strings on it and it is quite amazing for the money. Fiesta red and very Hank Marvin ;D ;D

Yes Dave , i'm sure putting the VPN on the laptop caused the issue . Although now ditched it and rebooted it still won't let me get on OOF . . .says I'm banned >:(

Non guitar people will have no idea what you are talking about ;D ::) On electrics I still use 10s or even 9s (lazy sod me!)
Great to see you're ok and getting there :y

Lighter gauge easier to play. Heavier gauge better sound. Ive always leaned towards lighter because I bend the strings a lot.
Stevie Ray Vaughan on the other hand used 13,s and would bend the strings off the end of the neck.
Someone once said he could crush a human skull with his bear hands, and I wouldnt argue with that. 8)

Certainly not quickly Bazza . . . tested pos on 8th Jan . . .had it bad for 11 days . . started to recover slowly.
The main covid issues have gone but feel a wreck , can't do anything remotely physical without feeling nauseous and dizzy . Only just started to drive again , but limited distance at moment . 8th Jan . . .1st March now . . .thats a lot of weeks ::)

Heard that you're not considered to have Long Covid until it's still giving you problems for three months. Anyone else heard this?

the government don't want the name "long Covid" used because of the massive number of benefit ,("on the sick" ,not sure what the real name of the benefit is :-[ ) claims that will be made , 20% of cases of covid could result in "long covid"
they want to use various names like "post viral fatigue " etc

Yes GP says up to 12weeks from positive test is "post covid recovery" after 12 weeks it becomes "long covid". . . Both the same in my book . . . I feel sh*te
