wanting a new power washer but undecided on which model . any suggestions please :y
-
I have a Nilfisk. Had been hanging in the garage for over three years, (was given an old one by a neighbour who was moving away). Got the Nilfisk down just before Christmas and did all the patios and slab paths. Went a treat. :y

My 10 year old Karcher which has had very little use, is now temperamental, so can't recommend them.

Not using something is as bad as abusing it :-\

There are so many karcher models from barely adequate to great, with prices to suit. You really need to say what you're going to use it for, Ray.

since posting looked at Which revues & they recommend a Bosch aquatec 135. in the top three there was two bosch machines & a karcher k4.
-
I have one from Aldi which cost about £75 and it's fine for washing cars, bikes, patios etc. :y
Worx? :-\
It's yellow as well, so the neighbours think I have a Karcher! ;D
-
Strangely, I'm looking at this right now. But for high level gutter flushing.
It's all quite confusing. Different people have differing requirements. Any comments are welcome.

I have a Karcher, 15 years old now
Dont know what model it is. Still working fine
-
I would not use my Karcher for general car washing, just wheels and lower body. It is very powerful, when working, and would possibly strip rubber seals. Perhaps newer models have adjustable pressure. :-\

you could always reduce the pressure at the end of the lance ;)

I have two Karcher pressure washers, both quite a few years old now. One is a K4, with a separate detergent bottle, the other is an old K6.91, with a built in detergent tank. The detergent tanks are irrelevant to me as I don't use them, as they spew through detergent at an alarming rate.
One thing to remember is the length of the supplied hose. One of mine has a ten metre hose and the other has a nine metre hose, so I don't have to move it about to wash my car. :y Both washers have an adjustable lance to increase or reduce pressure for delicate areas.
Incidentally, I killed both of these pressure washers last year but then easily fixed them both with a new capacitor for under a tenner each, as Karcher spares are readily available. :y
There may be better out there now but mine do the job required so I can't complain. :y

My basic Karcher become unreliable too, am waiting on delivery on this currently

I have two Karcher pressure washers ........
Within twenty minutes of typing the above, I received an email from ECP offering £50 cash back on Karcher pressure washers. We are being watched. ::) ;D
-
We have a Karcher seems to do the job okay , son in law has used it more than me , had it a few years now without any problems.
-
We soldiered on for years with woolworth ( remember them ?) washer. Bought a Karcher K4 this last year.
Have a lookout for offers. We got an extra hosepipe and some other gizmos, free packs of detergent and free delivery oh and a free cover for the same price as the K4 from local diy shed.
I thought the lance hose wasnt going to be long enough but it is for us. You can buy longer ones. Lance adjustable in power but I dont feel brave enough tto use on a car. It cleans patios very well for us.
-
My Karcher is great (15 years old and lots of use) but, I searched one with an induction motor and not a crappy universal motor.....I would advise doing similar
-
K3.91, no pressure adjustment in lance. :-\
-
K3.91 is supposed to have a Variance with it?
-
Slight adjustment at nozzle end, but I would not chance it with rubber seals. Although I’m relying on my memory from when it last worked. I know I never dared use it in dodgy areas.
-
The Varilance works well, it increases the nozzle size and consequently the pressure drops.......and it can drop a lot, have a play with it. :y
To put it into perspective, I rarely drop the pressure on mine and use it in anger, no issues at all
These variable speed ones tend to have the inferior universal motors and still only do the same thing.

followed Which,s recommendation & bought the Bosch 135 . not used it yet but initial find is it all packs away nice & neat. no reels that tend to put kinks in the machine to lance hose. :y

How did we manage before pressure washers,,, :o :o

Sadly a universal motor :-[

Used my new Nilfisk today.
WOW.
Never heard such a quiet pressure washer and massively more powerful than the old K2 too.
Did a very good job on everything I pointed it at. Seems well designed, long cable and long hose and plenty of attachments too.
Very heavy too, feels a quality bit of kit.

I'm thinking about getting one for drive, car & gutters.
.
Universal motors and whatever, just what the hell are you all talking about?

It doesn't matter if all you want is to pull a trigger and get a stream of high pressure water. All that's necessary is to head to B&Q(or wherever), and take the one that meets your price to the checkout.

That's nice to hear. Thanks. I get fed up with excessive technobabble.

Stashed at the back of my garage somewhere is non branded pressure washer that cost about £40 from B&Q 15-20 years ago and it is still going strong. :y
