Got it all back together. I took it for half hour run. No leaks…. Yet. Just waiting 🤣

In the end I didn’t drill in to covers cos I got a Topran gasket kit and it looked sooo much better when I compared to the BGA shit that beds. battery sent me. The Topran gasket kit actually stuck in the cover so it wouldn’t fall out so no need to poo 💩 it in. The material was also a nice neoprene type and felt good.

I did however (very carefully) lay a thin bead of poo on the head mating surface. If it leaks within a week now I’ll know there’s definite over pressurising problems and I’ll then make my bores… or T-piece as previously mentioned.

Evening men. Not bumping but thought I’d let you know the plan…

So can’t get cam covers anywhere. And the small selection of ones on eBay look just as warped as mine. So got some replacement gaskets and gonna do couple of things…. somehow try and either straighten out the covers and maybe brace them in some way. Not sure how this will go but worth a shot.
I’ve then got some hardcore sealant that vag use for their oil pan sealing. Done a couple of seat pans now and this stuff is very good. I happen to have two bottles spare. Gonna put small bead along head to cover mating surfaces in addition to gaskets.
Finally I’m gonna bore holes in to each cover. Poo in a small piece of brake pipe and then washer tube to a catch can cable tied somewhere. The only solution I can think of to relieve pressure if there is any.
I will of course be cleaning breathers again in addition to.
No idea if this is gonna work.
So wish me luck 😃😃😃👍👍👍

Thanks all for the replies. LC, to be honest I’m with u on that. I was suspecting maybe issue with the breather box or something like that. But what u have said sounds highly likely.

I will try n source some covers, clean breathers again and see what happens. If it goes again as quick as this then it’s probably curtains which I’ll be super sad about.

And no I wouldn’t put an engine in it. Too much hassle and time. I shall probably get a nice little fiesta, hopefully one without the rack / column bearing gone 🤣

Re the omega tho I may give Serek a go. IIRC he had a big bin of mig parts last time I saw him 👍

Oh ffs. 🤣 does anyone know where I can get v6 cam covers?

Do not fit Metal Vectra covers..

Also are you sure yours are wharped,,

Yeah positive mate. I fitted them with new gaskets and thought “ah, they’ll be alright with a bit of extra poo”. They weren’t 😢😢😢

What do u think I should do? I suppose my only other option is to get some second hand, probably also warped ones 🤦‍♂️

I rang factors. Nothing. I rang Vauxhall. One in Germany and other not available. And both 185 plus vat each. 😢😢😢😢😢😢

Word men. Hope u r all good.

2.5 v6. Owned this car for many years now. Know it like the back of my hand. When on motorway it sits exactly at 90 degrees. Maybe touch under.

Round town and traffic etc. it creeps up to 95. Fans kick in. Down to 85. It then creeps up to 95. Fans cut in. And repeat.

Now a few times around town it’s creeping up to 105. Fans cut in and it doesn’t go in the red.

Obviously the fans work. However am i right that there are two can switches.. one for standard fan speed and one for omg about to explode speed. I’m guessing the standard speed one is playing up.

So 2 questions… 1.) which is the fan switch that I need to replace and 2.) is there any other possibilities?

No coolant loss or anything odd other than this 👍

All the plenum and inlet removal is fine. The only issue is trying to lift up the wiring harness enough to get cam cover in and at the same time guiding the half moons in. Well that was my experience anyway 😃👍

Guys thanks for all the input. I tried to order the yellow ones and even contacted them cos couldn’t pay online for some reason. Anyway long story short I ended up getting some “intermotor” ones from beds battery. All good now. That passenger cam covers a sod to do on ur tod  ;D
