General Discussion Area / Cougar Ace car tansporter
« on: 09 November 2008, 19:18:52 »
Talking to a mate of mine in Canada tonight and he told me about this.
I never seen or heard of it being reported .
Seemingly all ships have to discharge foreign sourced water ballast and take on fresh when entering US waters and it all went wrong for the Cougar Ace....!
Mazda destroyed the cars rather than expose themselves to any after sale lawsuit issues.
Be warned it will bring tears to a glass eye........

General Discussion Area / Wills and Harry
« on: 18 October 2008, 20:40:18 »
So the daring duo are off on a 1000 mile jaunt across South Africa on motorbikes.
Can't quite see the economic sense in it though because according to BBC news 85 riders hope to raise £235 K for charities.  ::)
Travelling along with our intrepid heirs to the throne will be a full compliment of Royal Protection officers with back up in case of injury ( 'cause they are also on motorbikes )and a full medical crew which will no doubt consist of something a little more than a first aid kit with sponge (on a motorbike ?).
Add to it the cost of the media crews ,vehicles and satalite time  plus  getting there and back etc and I wonder why they all didn't just stay at home , endorse the event and make an enormous  donation to the  total sum raised .
Off course if they did Wills and Harry wouldn't have got some world wide PR and a little holiday out of it would they....?

Will they ever learn ?

Just been watching some recording I did this week some of which included Drifting.  :-/
Mmmm... I just can't see the attraction in this "sport" at all .Engines running at N thousand revs tyres lasting 5 minutes and all over in 60 secs. Oh and musn't forget the obligatory doughnut.... ::)
What's it all about ? Ballet dancing on wheels.... ;)

General Discussion Area / Vauxhall alloy wheel paint
« on: 02 May 2008, 23:31:24 »
This might be of interest to all you careless parkers out there .
I recently got a set of 17" facelift wheels of E bay ,I shan't say what I paid 'cause you'll just get jealous  ;D Anyway when they arrived they were ,well , as new  ;D ;D Except for one that had a 9" thin graze along the rim edge . I tried to get the paint code for the wheels to allow me to blow it in but could't get an answer. I then seen an ad. for Wurth silver wheel paint which claimed that it was the paint used by all German wheel manufacturers and matched the OEM finish.
Anyway, got some from E bay seller ,blew in the edge of the wheels and applied several coats of clear over it then cut back with 2000 paper and it is a perfect match for the OEM silver finish. :y
It's heavily metallic like the original paint and as I said a perfect shade match. Best 12.85 euros , oops £10 , I've spent since I ,   no musn't say any more ... ::)

 590euro  which is £464 for a 2.0lt  >:( >:( >:(
We may have a slightly lower petrol price over here but road tax is a killer.
Next month another 500 euro for the Freelander :'( and then the Manta in June ( it's only 25 euro 'cause it's over 30 years old.... :y)
Oh yeah forgot to say the vans were last month.... ::)
