Observing some of the comments on this forum, mine mists up terribly in the winter. If the climate isn't working, as it is not one mine, for demist. Is this a common problem with the Omega?

The ventilation and demist system on the Omega only works if the aircon is working in my opinion. Fixed it on my 3 as none worked when purchased and then you can just leave it in auto, see where your going and be comfortable at all times.

spoke today to an aircon specialist. they told me that not having working aircon shouldnt cause any issues and the car demist should behave just like any ordinary car that doesnt have aircon.is ther any peculiarities in the omega system that causes the misting up ? just curious

Your A/C specialist doesn't understand A/C.

the two omegas i have had work ok without aircon for demisting.  both had ac but remember some migs don't have as standard. 

only exception is if is cold and raining and/or a car full of people then  misting can be a problem sometimes.   air con fixes it pretty instantly but i am slightly loath to use it as once its been switched on you have to leave it on or the cars mists up twice as bad as the air con sheds the moisture it has trapped. 

if you use anti-mist wipes, keep the rear vents clear and the pollen filter dry it is ok most of the time.

Early GLS had a choice of sunroof or A/C (with the other being an option). All others had A/C as standard.

The Omega was repeatedly berated for having a poor ventilation system by reviewers of the time. This isn't news.

Indeed, it was always commented on that it had generally poor ventilation.  So the systems do need to be tip top and clear to work.


Personally, in over 14yrs of owning an Omega, I've never really seen it as a big issue though...

It's adequate when all working including the air conditioning I would say - mind you I have been amazed how much better the system in the Leaf is even though it's battery powered.

And check the drain/gromnet at the bottom is clear .... i.e. is there a small pond at the bottom?

Charcoal for all climate equipped Omegas, plain for the rest.

They are interchangeable but charcoal one more effective for smells etc

You need the charcoal filter for your 2.6V6 

GM specify the charcoal filter for facelift cars, but the standard filter for pfl and mfl irrespective of climate fitted or not

HTH
