Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Xenon HID's help please
« on: 07 February 2009, 16:29:38 »
hi all. got a bit of time on me' hands and thought i'd have a play.

I've got a spare xenon/HID balast, and spare HID bulb.

also got one of those 250million million candle power torch things.
(can you see where this is going...?) :o

Looking to mount the bulb in the usual place in the torch, the ballast in the battery compartment and a cable leading to backpack where the battery will be housed.

What type of battery would i need to power the bulb/balast?
amp hour rate?
12v yes?
how long would the battery last (question relating to the type of battery i select and the max weight i know-but a rough guide)

Thanks all, and SORRY if it's in the wrong section.

Omega General Help / LS7 V8 7.0L Crate Engine anyone???????
« on: 11 October 2008, 11:43:40 »
anyone got views or know of any issues with this engine?

Those that know, im putting a v8 into my omega, but we keep changing our minds as to what engine to put in!
we were and have got a ls1 5.7l engine, 350bhp but my mate at vauxhall can now get a recon 7.0l LS7 engine complete for £5k - which is very very good!

wont need to supercharge this engine, standard is 505bhp and 470lb torque!!!!!!

Omega General Help / can anyone help...?non starting V6 :(
« on: 13 August 2007, 15:06:21 »
thursday and friday last week my mv6 wouldn't start first time, took about 5mins of cranking it over to get it to fire, after that it drove, and restarted perfect all day.
but today, she wouldn't start, i cranked her untill the battery went flat  :(

i've got no fault codes flashing up, no EML light.(EML DOES light up when the ignition is turned, then goes out when trying to start)
theres a good spark to all plugs(which are 2weeks old), fuel flowing through the engine and no strange noises. (except me swearing very loudly!)

RAC couldn't start it, so it is now sitting dead on my driveway.

Anyone got any ideas? Do i need Tech2?

Thanks

Thanks for the help so far people!

Omega General Help / cruise control help please
« on: 25 July 2007, 22:02:20 »
i am fitting cruise control to my manual mv6. i have all the parts i need, and are now in place. under the steering colum i have found the brake switch connector but no clutch switch connector. its not there trust me. it is an ex police car so may have been cut/re used for something else.
my question is where do the two wires from the clutch switch go?? both black wires, one plain black, the other black with a yellow stripe.
thanks people

Omega General Help / Help Please - Idle trouble
« on: 28 June 2007, 16:40:09 »
hiya people.
my engine seems to have a mind of its own at the moment.
at start-up the revs settle at 500-550rmp, but then they rise to 1200-2000rmp. after a while it will keep changing up and down the rev renge from 400rpm - 2000rpm.(sounds like its going to stall at 400rpm)
I've changed the ICV and the breathers but this hasn't made any difference.
is the another valve or Idle control on the engine?
3.0 MV6 2000 'w' reg Manual.

Thanks
