Lada Niva available again...........
« on: 20 February 2013, 21:59:49 »

Flicking through you tube I found a road test of a 2010 Lada Niva, back for sale in the UK bit more searching and found this..........

http://www.markkey.co.uk/meetniva.html

I have been off road, a couple of times in them, and they are excellent off road, though I favoured the 'Cossack' version...... :y :y

Took a test drive in a new Cossack in 1987 complete rubbish, even the salesman had to agree! The brakes were almost non existent, ended up  buying a year old Nissan Patrol LWB terrific vehicle.

BUT on the other hand i`ve seen them tow a LR110 and caravan off a muddy site and get in and out of situations other 4x4 vehicles wouldn`t attempt, great 4x4 let down by poor manufacture and fitments..if only they could get their act together it could be a stonkin` little motor...

But they seem bomb proof. A lot of farmers around here use them.

I saw a chap load an incredible amount of bricks, bags of powder, cement and the likes into one and then drive off. It must have been on the rear bump stops.

And the difference in price was how many thousands of pounds? you get what you pay for, and the Lada is well known around the world for being excellent off road, for it's class a little like the 4x4 Panda of the same era, the ' Sisley' iirc, a very competent off roader but you would not compare it to a Range Rover - mainly cos it would be to small to pull the Range Rover off the rough stuff.... :D :D :D
