No way is this a 1963 car........
« on: 27 October 2011, 22:14:30 »

Wrong doors, switches, rear lights, seats, dash top, door hinges...............if this was being restored it would have been done with genuine parts, hardly the museum piece the seller suggests.......... ::) ::) ::)

No point in the younger members looking :D :D

I reckon the only bits of that mini that date from 1963 are the number plates :D

Looks like been done up with newer parts, or stolen and on an old logbook / test etc, a trick often done with old Land Rovers, still see vehicle Papers/ID's for sale on ebay...... :(

And the dash, seats, door cards, wheels (current), chrome shite on it, steering wheel and loads more i reckon. Looks like a sack of shite.

Checking Google, i've found several sites alluding to the 'Radford Mini De-Ville'. These cars were coachbuilt by Radford & have some striking similarities to the one linked by Vamps :-\

I had a 1968 Mini but mine had sliding front windows. I remember this very well as the sliders used to fill up with moss.  ::) ::)  Also had a Cooper 'S' and 1275 GT  :y

aside from the cosmetic tart-up....
where have the external door hinges gone?
or the sliding windows?
or the bit of string which served as the inside door handle?
and the ankle straps?

Just shown the pics to an old school tech at work who used to play with these things back in the day. First things that caught his eye was wipers sweep the wrong way apparently. He then worked his way through the door hinges, check straps, door trim, dash, clocks, foot starter, ignition key on dash not column, foot washer pump etc then onto exhaust exit, lamps, wheels and numerous other bits and bobs. He also said early rear glass was smaller as the C pillars were wider on early shells. Said it was tidy enough but far from a 1963.

A lot of older 'British' cars used to sweep the wrong way leaving a huge unswept area in front of the driver  ???. This ... clicky is a little newer & sweep the other way.

That's what the fella means Andy. The pseudo 1963 car is a much later shell with wipers now sweeping the 'correct' way.  :y

He makes a big issue of it being tax exempt straight away. Makes me wonder if he's ringed it to make it so? ???

Couldn't agree more - thats not a 63 mini - so much is wrong!  My wife (ex) had a 64 mini and I used to race a 1293 "S" in the 60s so know a lot about minis of that age.  Still got a load of parts/spares for minis of that era - perhaps the guy should have contacted me  :) :) ;)

yep, certainly bears little resemblance to the mini I remember as a kid which was my dad's first family car, especially the interior, its simply all wrong! You know, even now I can remember the smell of the old mini's pseudo leather skyblue vinyl seats and those funny catches on the sliding windows ;D
