HI.

Today I got a puncture and when I went to get it sorted at Kwik Fit they asked me for the security key for the hub cap on the alloy wheel. I didnt know what they were talking about and so checked the handbook. Sure enough there is such a thing and it was supposed to be stored with the tools etc in the boot. However there was only the jack and the brace but no key. I therefore could not have the tyre repaired. Does anyone elso know about this and could I get a replacement from Vauxhall?  I assume all the keys are standard and can be borrowed from any Omega. I need one urgently to get the wheel sorted. Thanks

Would suggest the key is unique-ish to the car, although there are only so many combinations possible.

Turn the car and boot upside down and sideways and find the required key or puzzle nut.  otherwise, its going to take a pounding from a drill and/or chisel to remove the nuts and potentially damage the rims....

Just rearead - if its the large plastic T bar type key to remove the centre hub plate, I think there are even less permutations!!

I remember having all four tyres changed once at a Kwik Fit where they didn't bother to ask for the adapter and just bodged them off.  I then showed them where the adapter was!  I'm surprised they weren't able to do this.

Having bought a new set recently they come with a piece of card with a number on which means a Vx stealer can replace the adapter.

The old one I had was a different style to the current one and had three holes in the top; I don't now if that's the factory fit adapter style and whether you can borrow one from someone else.

I, that's what I think it is as well... I typed a whole message about the wheel 'locking' bolts then re-read the message said 'hub cap'

Hi, i actually broke my key, taking the wheel off, bloomin QF tightened em up too much. ended up hammering a socket on the bolt and jumping up and down on it.

Did the job though.
Got some new locking bolts from my local factors, about £20 if i remember right.

I managed to get a new key and 4 bolts for £20 from local Vauxhall place (and got my puncture sorted out)

If its the centre cap security bolt then these can be undo with small punch and hammer. There are only four different types of this security bolt so you might be able to find one to match at you local dealer. you will have to by a complete new kit as Vauxhalls dont sell the key seperately.

If its the Security Key for the wheel bolts then you will need the key number so your dealer can get a new one. If you haven't got the card then the security bolts will have to be butchered out. Most good tyre companies will have a special socket that has a left hand cutting thread on the inside. This is forced onto the security bolt with an air gun which should then wind out the bolt.

VX tried to fob me off with a full set for £27ish, i bought one off ebay, the 3 pronged t-shape one doesnt appear to be unique, as the one i got off ebay (then lost) and the one i borrowed from a kind chap on here, both fitted my facelift early GLS nut cover plates

Had to drill mine off (well enough to release the tension). Quick Fit must have put them on before I had the car and I fubared two keys trying to get them off. The 'screw on' socket didn't work either due to the free spinning collar and trying to chisel it off risks damaging the wheel as they are so deep into the wheel.

I should have parked it in the centre of Birmingham on a saturday night!

I'm assuming it's the T-key with 3-prong base that's missing.
Mine broke when I tried to undo the corresponding 3-hole locking bolt.
A sharp blow with a hammer and pin-punch got my locking-bolts unwinding. I then discarded these bolts and replaced them with a set of stainless steel M8 X 10 Allen-type bolts. In my opinion, they look better than the originals, although you obviously need to obtain an M8 Allen key to undo these retrofits!!!!!!

A stout pair of long Nosed Pliers could be the answer for the 3 hole retaining screw. (Works for mine).

Try a local indipendent, they can be a little more aimiable when it comes to Locking Wheel Nuts.
