Yes, I think it was called Holts No-corrode.

Just wondered what the implications were of using Copper Grease - is it better than Vaseline, or should it not be used anywhere near electrical connections?

that is a very valid point would not have an answer to that one i have always used a silicone grease or just cleaned them and let them be

i believe that if the terminals are clean and making good contact then very little build up occurs

The reason for my question is, when we bought Mrs AA's Astra last June from a Network-Q dealer, the battery terminals were smothered with Copper Grease.

Is it a better conductor? I wouldn't have thought so.

Is it better than nothing (for people unlike you and me) that neglect the battery terminals?

Vaseline every time!
When I was an apprentice, we used 'Korodecure' for a good while, but reverted to using petroleum jelly with good results.

I use silicone grease from a tube: I use a generous wipe, it`s cheap, and seems to work just fine, with no sign of verdigris or lead-oxide formation.

I have always been told to use copper grease,and ask anyone and would probably agree.As you know copper is a natural conductor of electricity,as they would not make cables in it otherwise ,and also you have the water repellent grease to stop damp etc,so 2 and 2 together you should get 4,at least when i went to school it was.

As a 'leccy by trade, we were taught to use copper grease, so reckon its ok......................

I am a vasaline man lol( I know how that looks/sound before posting)
After my fase of splashing through pudles and small fluds the vasaline never let me down on covering all electical points that could get wet, `note to self - remember to disconect the air intake from low down as some cars suck up the puddles oops  `

Always used Vaseline mesel' - never had a build-up of verdigre (sp)

vaseline isnt that conductive though, a propper battery grease should only be put on the nut and thread anyhow, the cap and contact should be wire brushed and mated, then i guess any grease could go on the retaining bolt
