15k car dilemar
« on: 03 May 2013, 21:55:02 »

if certain plans/offers come off will probably end up with about 5k a year to spend on a motor or as i see fit as long as i have a reliable prensentable car thats not to old

i could buy something right up there or something middle of the road or even had my eye on a few vectras with sensible miles around an 06 plate.

the rules would be

has to be an auto
good economy mpg tax etc
minumum age probably about 05
price wise max £10k to £15k depending what i can get approved for

my thinking to date bearing in mind i know nothing about relabilty mechanics etc so looking purley from what i consider nice or sensible bearing in mind will probably end up financing the car so the cheaper the car the more money i will pocket or the more economical the more i will make from the mileage allowance etc also will be travelling possibly up to 50k a year maybe so comfort or economy or both. what car would you go for and why please. My choices at the moment.

bmw 730d love them very comfy so so economy draw back it may be too good a car ie better than my superiors and may say hes paying m,e too much , the old green eyed monster

jag xf as above

jag x type estate economy had one before loved it

bmw 5 sport nice but may be to flashy as above

insignia estate good economy cheap second hand some bargins out there may keep a low profile with work buddies

vectra etstate had one before loved it, keeps a low profile with work buddies

audi a6 estate maybe a bit to high profile as bmw

thats a few i have been looking at part of me wants to say sod it get a flash motor its up to me what i buy and not make as much money

another sensible head buy a sort of run of the mill car without sounding like a knob keep a low profile with work buddies benifit from better economy and possible cost and make a bit more money :y

any suggestions, did think about keeping the van but if i get seen its a bit of a high profile job wont go down too well ;D ;D ;D

Vectra V6 TDI estate in Elite trim, I have a real soft spot for those

A nice looking car that can blend in, ideal for a low profile  :y

I can thoroughly recommend the XF, very affordable second hand now and a lot of car for the money.

Make sure you get the 3lt diesel.  It's very quick, powerful and sh!t loads of torque.  Also ensure that the sat nav has been upgraded, the stock units would make some weird routing errors, and that the oil has been changed as per the service schedule otherwise you could get issues with the DPF.

3.0 might be out my price range the early models are 2.7 i think ,but yes been reading up on them and lush looks never driven one, would be nice to get into at 4.30am when i leave for work and at about 6.pm when i leave work to drive home.........something to look forward too sit back and cruise rather than foot to the floor in something your not happy with ;) :)

top choices are between that and a bmw 7

The XJ TDVi's are great prices now, after driving Josh's 4.2 V8, I think one with a diesel engine is a serious replacement for me.

Sub £10k gets some great examples!  :)

Oooo yes!! Something like this Loverboy!!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2009-JAGUAR-XF-3-0D-V6-LUXURY-4DR-AUTO-/171014916960?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item27d1488b60

2 Choices as I see it.

1) Stick two fingers up to the green eye monsters and enjoy the ride!!  :)

2) Complain bitterly to all and sundry that you would rather drive an Astra, but had to buy this ridiculous car, otherwise wifey was going to leave you for the BMW owning cock down the road!!  :o  Enjoy the ride!!  :)

yes Tunnie very nice drove one a few years back xj6 and wow what a car would imagine the xj is even better, they did upgrade it slightly with more agressive bumpers which does look very nice, but side by side with an XF think i would choose the XF :y
