As a retired driver i find a price drop of a couple of pence per litre doesn,t make much difference.
But i do feel for folks who rely on fuel for their living. :(

Might sound a bit obvious but have you tried full lock both ways and checking springs in bottom of cup for any
breakage ?

I found on my 95 mig that when it was really cold that the bonnet slowly came down.
Now it,s slightly warmer the bonnet stays up ok.
