Hi there,
Not been on here very long but am very interested in your meega,
What have you done to the engine in the tuning area? and also what gains do you get by putting the veccy gsi inlet chamber on? is yours a 3.0 or 3.2?
lots of questions i know but i am looking for ideas to tune up my MV6!
I have cut out the dual ram aswell as its soo restritive!
chris.

Post by: palmer3914 on 27 April 2007, 23:29:34
engine wise mate its a 3.0 as the 3.2 are just still too much money still.....

as for tuning without spending a shed loads your looking at a limit of around 250bhp as that seems to be the BHP most agree on before engine goes POP........ :'(

My mk1 omega with vectra inlet was a pain in the ass if im frank....... i ran gsi inlet with an enlarged 70mm throttle body..... no real gains just made it easier to get rid of the duel ram... or so we thought.. its not just an easy swap mate... and wouldn't recomend doing it.... :-/.... unless your into making your engine bay bigger with a hammer!! and re-locating wiper moter to battery side and making new linkages for it... and thats just for starters....... :o

the duel ram is restrictive so they say but il be honest if you can get a very good COLD air feed into air box which isn't hard at all to do it does help..... when we ditched the duel ram it gave us about 8bhp top end but suffered mid range so it shows the duel ram  does infact work. :-?

the best mod you cxan do with these lardy barge's is weight loss!!!!!

i also do have a development lightened flywheel which nolonger is duel mass and a development underdrive pulley (which alone gives 3bhp!!) but as i said they are under development from a friend of mine who is testing them on mine!!!

flywheel was origianlly just off 15kg !!!! its now 6kg!!! thats the same as shifting i think he worked it out to be 90kg from the car, just for the fly wheel.

AND i will also add...... im sure i can get VERY VERY VERY GOOD DISCOUNTS on these items once fully tested........

So if anyone interested in a lightened flywheel or an underdrive pulley give me a shout and il see what he can do.

New car looks great, old car not bad either. Would like to have a go myself but with a cream crackered shoulder cannot any more. :'( :'(
Good luck with the racing though and i think it would be good to have some sort of 'stake' in the project from the forum.

If a sticker could be made and decided on then i feel that would be a good idea.  Might give you another 3bhp.... ;D ;D

Good for you, I was watching them hidden away in the back of beyond listings and didn't believe that they were 35mm offset as the seller described.Steinmetz are always wide offset wheels so after contacting him he confirmed that they were 25 and I backed off. Good tyres on them too ,you robbed him  ;D
When you going to post a video ?
Cheers

Hi,
Just interested in what made you picked an Omega as your track car. I've owned one for 6 years and love the fact you did but don't you drive a Beemer.

Regards

Ong

hi as for choosing omega for track car ........ well almost perfect 50/50 weight front to rear..... over 200bhp out the box, LSD diff, rear wheel drive.... and cheap to maintain ..... :y

yes they have some serious weight issues but worked on principle once moving they are quite quick...... belive it or not.....
OH and the added fact an omega isn't everyone's 1st thought of a track car so i like supprising people with it!!!!!!

and yes drive BMW 5 series Alpina B10 estate but if that goes wrong i would need a 2nd morgage!!!!!!!!  :o

----

As for posting pics mate.... need to open an account with PHOTOBUCKET .... then use them to host a pic..... just open a account and then take it from there... its all free too!!! :y

Good answer.
I've just up graded my 2.0l to an 3.0 MV6 estate and I love the noise it makes when you boot it. Would like to see you race one day so let us know your dates in the future.
