Hi
Since a week i have a omega from 2001
it has a bose soundsystem.
I do not like the factory radio
Is it possible to remove it ?
I want to replace it with the alpine IVA D310 (dvd etc)

It won't be entirely straightforward.

You will need to:

remove Bose amp
replace Bose speakers (2ohm, unless new HU can properly drive these)
Loopback the speaker feed in the connector in rhs kick panel

you will need to use alpine amp, hence why you have to make changes above

The alpine can play dvds ipod bluetooth handsfree.
i was hoping to put a iso adapter when i remove the factory radio so i just plug in the alpine

Nope, you can't without removing all the Bose stuff first, and adjusting the wiring to suit. Trying to bodge the alpine in will likely end up damaging the alpine headunit due to impedence mismatching.

hmm
when you have a iso adapter the wires for the speaker will be the line in for the bose amp right?
is it not possible to place a converter between this?
does somebody have wiring diagrams for this system?

The bose does not work at line levels, it works at propietry levels, hence the problems. Rather than mess around with trying to adapt these levels and fight impedence matching, just remove the bose stuff (and free up room in boot

)

Also, be aware, there is not much room for various adapters behind the radio.

i will remove the bose amp.
you say that the speakers are 2 ohm is this in the wiring?
so the front kickmid and tweeters are in series?

The speakers themselves are 2ohm.

Simple replacement is to find non bose omega speakers, which sound OK if used with decent HU.

There is still a bit of work around the bypassing of the bose.

How well that would work on Omega Bose is unknown. You will struggle to find room for that as well.

Constantly changing levels and impedence probably won't do much for the quality though.

I'd still go down the line of removing Bose stuff.

you will loose sound quality and its not a good to stick 4 inline FET's just to upconvert the 2ohm impedance to 4ohm! this can be done but not with a magic box of tricks!

as the boy said remove the bose speakers and amp and get a set of 4x non bose omega speakers and install the alpine with standard 4ohm omega speakers

you can sell your boss amp speakers and loom on ebay! for around £50 - £100 which should cover your speaker costs

you will loose the subs on the parcelshelf though! but 6x9s fit quite well!

i do no want the system go louder but i want to use my alpine touchscreen so i can play music dvd and ipod
ipod is really cool you have al your favourit cds on board

Is it just me that thinks the ipod is really gay then

It is likely the Alpine will have a decent enough amp built in the HU...

Erm, I think you may be showing signs of your age there my friend !!

I must admit that as an "enthusiast" of ultra high quality music (goes with the job) It took me an awfull long time to get into MP3 and the various formats.

But that said, if I am just listening to a bit of background music in the car when blasting up the motorway, you simply cannot beat the iPod. I have thousands of CD`s, and I will change the ones in my CD Changer for my favourites should I want to listen to them properly, but that said, my iPod contains every disc I own, and is always plugged in as well.

Have a proper hands on play with an iPod if you get the chance, it really has a lot going for it.

If it wasnt for iTunes, the iPod probably would not be as successfull as it is. Once you have got your head around iTunes (Freebie), then categorising the folders is so easy and all of the disc information, titles etc etc is transferred effortlessly. Don`t bother with the download stuff, use it for ripping your own. Cost? Yes, the iPod is a little more expensive than its counterparts, but there are more accessories for it than for any other, and if it ever breaks, then there is a fair chance of getting it fixed as it is well supported.

And as far as the gay thing, haven`t we already had this conversation with dash bulbs of "LED blue" (they do come in other colours you know)

But the iPhone? Absolute piece of junk ! Albeit a very good looking and graphical piece of junk, but a piece of junk none the less

Next week i am going to replace the factory system.
What exactly does the block behind passenger side?
If you change this is the only thing what happend that the wires from the iso blok will go directly to the speakers?

When you remove the radio there will be no problems with the computer?

Does anybody know what kind of connector is connected to the CCR 2006 with bose system
I just called for a steerwheel interface
they want to know if it has a 20pin connector or mini iso.
i have the car at the garage so i cant look but i like to order it today
