Title: Xenon light front suspension height sensor
Post by: terry paget on 02 August 2018, 17:27:22
X reg 2.5 CDX manual petrol estate
Ths is the car Jonny brought home yesterday. There is a message on the screen about hesdlight low beam; had a look, the front suspension sensor is broken and incomplete. The car I am stripping for spares is a GLS so will not have one. I have the impression they are scarce and very expensive. Anyone got one for sale?

Yes they are expensive, bought original in 2015, price was 223 euro, really strange!

Thanks again. It arrived all right, is now fitted and functioning normally. It's a great relief not to have the annoying message popping up.
The xenon beam is only the dipped beam, it hardly seems worth all that fuss. My other CDX 2.5 petrol estate, same year but earlier model, does not have the xenon dipped beam, just the old twin filament bulbs. Same main beams.

This car has been on cable ties on the central joint for 3 years. Finally the joint broke off the shaft and was beyond further repair.

I got fed up with the Low beam Fld/Vision error message and repaired mine with a metal bracket i pop riveted on, with about 1mm clearance between it and the arm.

The ball joints on the link rod were full of muck, and the link rod was solid so I cleaned them out so that the link rod moves completely freely.

Silly question but i assume the warning message only comes on if the sensor or any part of its electrical connection is faulty. It would not come on if the arm had just popped off would it ?

Yes it would. I have had that many times. If it detects no motion the message soon pops up.

I agree.  When mine popped out I got the message.  I put it back in and kept it in place with a plastic tie.  All worked fine without any message until the tie fell off.

I figured that the computer? checks to see if the sensor is signalling motion which it will do on virtually any surface.  No motion sets the warning.
