Second hand radio out of the car in the yard no paper work with the car, therefore no hope of the car pass :'(
As RobG suggested then. Contact DaveDND before entering too many wrong codes and locking it up totally.

Thanks will try and let you know what happens also does anyone know where to get a code for a ccr2006 and do you need two one for radio and one for cd or just one.
Have you have just bought the car? With luck you will find the 'car pass' in the owners handbook. The code for the original radio will be on this card.

Omega General Help / Re: Wheel squeal

1. Support the car
2. Remove the wheel
3. Undo the retaining screw that holds the disc onto the hub. Screw one of the wheel bolts in a few turns to keep the bolt holes lining up with the hub.
4. Undo the caliper retaining bolts (can't remember if the shock absorber is in the way for this one, if it is you have to put a jack under the hub to compress the spring slightly when you release the shock absorber bottom mounting.
5. Very carefully ease the caliper off the disc, there should be enough give in the steel brake pipe to allow you to do this and suspend the caliper behind the disc.
6. Using a torch & screwdriver peer through the hole provided in the disc and undo the handbrake adjuster enough to pull the disc off.

And reassembly is the reverse of disassembly. (or whatever the phrase is that Haynes used to use ;) )

I had those symptoms because my handbrake shoes had worn a groove in the inner drums in the rear discs. Everything worked fine but it was irritating and embarrassing.

I put up with it for 60,000 miles before eventually replacing the rear discs/drums, pads & shoes. That fixed it  :y

Pull forward and up.

Put some gloves on first though because there are lots of sharp edges for you to catch your knuckles on as you fall over when it comes out :o

Omega General Help / Re: Headlight problem
« on: 30 September 2009, 19:34:57 »
I had this problem after I fitted cheap replacement headlights (£50 each). The electrical connectors were poor quality and one of the pins in the connector bent back when I plugged it into the wiring loom.

If you only have the problem with one lamp then it isn't the earth wire.

I think the Euro regulation that permits the use of HID lamps requires headlight washers and either self levelling suspension or self levelling headlights.

I don't know what the MOT testers manual requires.

On my pre-facelift (1994) omega it was pushed through a grommet in the bottom of the bumper on the passenger side. I have read that it is in the centre of the bumper on a facelift.

I am guessing that the mini-facelift is the same as the pre-facelift.

Could the failure be heat related?

The battery has a quilted jacket which I assume is fitted to protect it from heat. It gets pretty warm under the bonnet of my car in this country so I dread to think how hot things get in Qatar.

Omega General Help / Re: Radiator cooling fan
« on: 30 September 2009, 10:20:55 »
It strikes me that this could be caused by a failing relay becoming intermittent in operation or by a failing cooling fan or by the thermoswitch in the radiator.

There is a guide to the testing the fan operation somewhere on here but I can't find it at the moment  :(

Under the scuttle panel on the passenger side.

Lift the bonnet, peel off the rubber seal on the lip of the scuttle panel at the rear of the engine compartment. A section of the scuttle panel lifts out and the pollen filter is lurking underneath it.

This can be done guy's, lift engine up on hoist and remove bolts, on way back in just refit before droping on engine mounts.

you make it sound very easy :D

All part of the OOF service to provide encouragement presumably  ::)

so you can unbolt the compressor, move it away and this will enable you to remove/refit the engine without having to tamper with the aircon system? you can leave it alone, bolt it back up on the new engine and it will operate as before?!
Thats what I was told (but I haven't done it myself). Hopefully one of the Omega Barons will drop by later and tell us how they do it :y
