Title: A good looking new Vauxhall!

Love the styling, it's got a retro look to it.

I suppose if I squinted and looked the other way, I could almost tolerate those looks.

But probably not ;D

Looks like an almost indentical replica of the original Manta, apart from the silly lights and wheels.  :-\

It is a Manta, but fitted with an electric motor and modern 'styling'

I rather like it.

But they won't make it, or if they do it'll look b*gger all like the prototype.

Definitely an A series Manta lookalike  ...

a series definately but as mentioned above theres no way the actual released car will have anything that resembles an a series body at all or even that steering wheel.
all the things in those pictures that dont look original will be the only bits that will actually make it to the final design. it would be great if it did look like that obviously ,even with the different interior and drivetrain but cant see it happening.
its a sneak picture to draw attention to the name only !

And if its going to be a Vauxhall, why not make it look like a Firenza / Magnum, rather than an Opel Manta ?   ??? ::)

It's not a lookalike, but an actual A-series Manta with modifications

Yes if you put Opal Manta A into google images, photos of both the original and this one comes up so you can see them side by side.  :y

They need to sort the headlights!  ::)

That new front end is common to a couple of new Vauxhalls, Crossland, Grandland.

I like the look of that. A proper saloon car.

What's the betting that it will have changed shape to that of a dumpy, top heavy SUV by the time it makes it to the market?

That appears to be what all manufacturers are tending towards currently. ::)

Calibra was a fine looking Vauxhall.

Calibra was a fine looking Vauxhall.

I'd contest that .....  ;)

I believe a certain Admin on here used to own one.

So would I.

The silhouette looked a lot better on the Astra platform where the proportions work, and with properly resolved headlights.

The Signum sets the bar high.... :)

I suppose almost anything else will look awkward and compromised. :)

The Signum was conceived, designed and approved IN a bar. In the time it took to drink a WKD/Two dogs cocktail. At about 02:37

I struggle to think of a coupe based on a large saloon / hatchback platform that doesn't look out of proportion, to be honest.

Interesting ploy , attract the older wealthier buyer with "retro " styling but with electric power .
It looks absolute gash to my eye ,the original being way more attractive even to this day.

I built this from mostly new parts between '89 and '93 and can tell you there was more room and comfort in the little Kadet coupe in front of it ,which I also rebuilt .

Calibra was a fine looking Vauxhall.

Shh, don't mention Calibra, or someone will be along shortly talking about drag coefficient.

Also you might not think this electric car is good looking, but when you compare it to the rest of Vauxhall's offerings, it's a diamond in the rough.

Monaro gets close.  8)

It's been a while since I've seen one of them on the road. Going back a few years, there used to be a reasonably good nick Kadett Coupe knocking about where I live.

IIRC a local body shop/general service garage used to have several Manta As in the yard .... the owner had plans to restore one of them ..... unfortunately he died before doing so.

It looks like it belongs there. Which is the difference between doing a complete design from scratch, and using jumbo felt-tip to smudge a modern feature onto a fifty year old one.
