Buying cars....
« on: 17 July 2021, 13:42:50 »

Why is it.....

When you aren't looking for a specific used car (model / spec / options) you see plenty of them but when you are in the market and have everything in place to buy one, you can't find one!  ::)

I guess part of the problem is being very specific about the model, spec, colour etc but I can't see the point of buying a car with a lower spec than you want then having to source all the options and retrofit them.

We found exactly that. Didn’t want a full length sunroof ( weight and added complexity plus sun). But wanted everything else.  Worth waiting or travelling a bit.

Unless you are absolutely desperate for a particular car / vehicle at this present time, I would hold off for a bit - prices of good used cars have absolutely sky rocketted since the early Spring. If you compare prices in say February or March compared with now, you will be surprised actually how much like for like vehicles have increased in price. If you have to buy a car, then fair enough. If you don't, I would definately wait.

We almost bought a Toyota Yaris then realised a new version has just been released so will hold out till one of them appears on Motorpoint.

The runout model would be a better buy than one of the first batch of new ones.

That applies to most cars as the bugs don't always get fixed before launching.

Indeed. Having to have the new model is best left to the "keep up with the Joneses" idiots.
Besides, the way cars are going these days, the new model is unlikely to be the better one.

Looks better to us & that's what counts, + my experience with Toyotas in the past makes me confident it will be fine , certainly no intention of spending £15000 + on a vehicle no longer in production.
