browsing fleabay, and seen the odd HG fail auctions on 2.2's?
Thought this would be very rare, they say suspected HG fail but what else could it be on a 2.2?
-
Seem to recall that some do have a small oil cooler near the oil filter...the 4 pots do very occasioanly suffer headgasket failure but, its easy enough to put right.

How much costs wise would i be looking at to repair a HG? 4 pot & v6?

If you have to pay a garage to do it, then you won't be making much money of it.
-
was thinking of doing it myself, getting along nicely with project A, hopefully it should be finished this weekend

You'll have to pop it round so I can have a look...

Mark the 2.2's have a heat exchanger on top of the oil filter housing sandwiched betwwen the filter housing and the oil pump

I thought they did, a 4 pot headgasket, about a ton with a head skim......plus cambelt, water pump and tensioers of course.

Humm ouch!! expensive then. Saw a 2.2 V plate 173k miles go for 300quid on fleabay.
not really worth it considering in all the costs..... and its end retail value.
Ah well just a possible thought, back to V6 projects! :)

Yeah might very well do that at the weekend... i now have a flat stacker (like yours) for the oil change and coolant flush...
Since i have to flush mine anyway and yours needs doing as well, I could give you a hand at the weekend doing yours if you want? Not sure if there is a block in mine, fan cuts in at around 95 ish... got out of the car in a carpark and heard it going so i think its just crap coolant in it.
I am 90% sure now its the battery thats dead.... after another 30 min run the other day with my mum driving, i got back turned it off then tryed to start it again. All the lights lit up and so did the MID (though a little dim) turned the key, dead. no suprise there.
The following morning I had to move project A as it was blocking my dad in.... deceided to give it another try without jumping it, got in turned the ignition on. Nothing...... 2 extremely dim lights came on, oil an brake light i think, nothing else... MID dead. So i think the battery is not holding its charge.

selling a 173k 2.0l car would not be easy - many would be put off with that sort of miles...
