Guys,
my 2003 2.6 not running well, it started at the weekend, slight misfire and then engine light flashing, then on constantly. Read the fault codes and it comes up 0300 and 0303. I am thinking coil packs, can get some vectra 2.6 ones, but will they fit OK ???

or should i assume something else. The coil packs were not in good shape, when i changed the rocker gaskets 3 months ago. The rubbers split from lying in oil, and the bakalite end adrift.....

thanks

Went to get Sunday papers and my 2003 2.6 will not start, have not had any problems before (other than crank sensor)

It tried to fire once and now the starter is turning the engine over but too fast. It is as if there is no compression, have checked the timing belt and it is turning round OK, can see the camshaft moving in the oil filler hole also.

I replaced the belt and tensioner and water pump (all genuine) 42,000 miles ago. Car has got 134,000 miles on it, uses a little oil (1ltr every 4000 miles), uses no water.

Any thoughts before I end up elbow deep in oil/grease...

Flooded, happens all the time.

Cold start - short run -turn off - no restart.

Try cranking and crancking for what seem a rediculass amount of time with the throttle full down, after 30-45 secs lift off the throttle gently and it should start.

If that doesnt work, plugs oil, blast of air and a small drop of oil in each bore, and all will be well again.

Stuck boost pack on it and kept turning the engine over, eventually it fired on 1 then 2 then 3 until it went on all cylinders.

Never ever came across that on a FI car before...........

Thanks to all, still got transmission error, but can live with that

Just got it in bits all over the drive, the belt is still whole and the marks are lining up OK.

Aux belt tensioner bearing has a bit of play (will change if i get it running)

Should have plugged the laptop in before I got the spanners out.... trust me to think the worst (must be cause im a scorpio)

Omega General Help / Re: Heater only working on hottest?
« on: 29 January 2011, 13:50:37 »
Just experienced the same problem, heater is only blowing hot at Hi setting, the external temp. sensor not showing on dash. I have found a used sensor in the garage but.............

I cannot find the sensor on the car  :(, the only wiring in front of the passenger wheel at the horn are for the horn and fog lamps.

Have they relocated the sensor on the later model ?

FOUND IT......  on the later models it is in the middle of the bumper, below the washer bottle.

All working well.
 :) :)

Omega General Help / Torque setting for Autobox sump pan bolts
« on: 14 February 2010, 13:50:49 »
Can anyone help, i am looking for the torque settings for the bolts that hold the sump on the bottom of the auto gearbox. I need to buy a torque wrench to do my spark plugs and have seen a cheap one preset to 24nm and don't know if this will do the sump bolts, as i will be doing a gearbox oil change soon. I thought i could kill two birds with one Torque Wrench rather than spend three times the price on an adjustable one.

thanks

Found an in depth manual written by Hans Verhoeven, including rebuild, parts descriptions, pictures etc etc.

http://www.hansverhoeven.com/isuzu/manual/manual.doc

Its from an Isuzu, but fundamentally the same.

Omega General Help / Re: 2.6 Elite rattle from rear underneath ?
« on: 18 October 2009, 17:13:46 »
Mine had the same sort of tingling rattle at idle, turned out to be the exhaust 'just' touching the rear axle at the drop link rod bracket. I tried to align but to no avail, ended up with a piece of heater hose between.

All is silent now. :D
