General Car Chat / Re: DSG gearbox

Been impressed with the DSG in her Golf GTI,
Serviced at around 40k now at 66k and always been fine.

If I bought one with no history, and it drove fine, id prob factor in a couple hundred for a gearbox service and hope.

Hi Andy
If it's any help I had a rear bearing replaced on my elite by Buckley tyres (in Buckley obvs)
The guy there,Kev I think had done a couple before and took it on for me as no one else seemed willing.
I can't just remember the costs but will try to resurrect the thread  to give you an idea.
HTH.

I Think I put you onto Buckley Tyres.....
However, like many other places they have been bought out by Pro Tyre (same outfit that bought Blackboots / Wheels in motion) now.....  That geometry bay gets you out as fast as they can now with an 'In the green'  They are not what they once were....

No probs
Ive found them to be good.
Do a varity of packages to suit.
5G works as well.

I'd avoid doing a speedtest however as that will eat a large chunk of data pretty fast.

Try 1p mobile for an EE based PAYG sim,
https://www.1pmobile.com/index.taf?friend=M155386J  (we both get an extra £5 if yu use this link)

£10 every 3 months, or as needed, and builds up credit.
I keep one and 2nd SIM as an alternative to when o2 is poor.

General Car Chat / Re: DIY air compressor.

Ive a similar sized one- Aldi Special, bought 2nd hand from a colleague for £20.
I wouldnt be without it, and would replace it, prob like for like.
Accept it wont run any tools, I tried and failed.
I find it great for doing tyres, assuming close enough (I can do all 3 cars without moving it)
What I use most, is the air duster, and would buy one just for that, so would stick to the cheap ones knowing they would suit my needs and I'd have to spend a fortune to get anythig decent enough for tool use.
Never tried painting, but you would need other kit like a dryer iirc.

I seem to recall a very common fault on these where the wires snap in the 'protector' between body and door, to the point they did make a repair kit...
