2.2 MPG.. What should it be?
« on: 25 June 2009, 11:22:05 »

My 2.2 has always averaged about 26mpg mixed urban/motorway driving and I've never really thought anything of it.. But I  noticed the other day that my mate with a 3.2 Vectra is getting similar mpg so mine must be terrible  ;D

It runs perfectly and it is regularly serviced, are the 2.2's just really bad?

Unfortunately that's just what they get. Average mpg on mine is 26.4, that's from the MID. Have had 30 ocasionally and dropped to 20 or 21. The range, and mpg bit of the computer always depresses me lol, so I just stick to the outside temperature and enjoy driving it :)
The official figures from a brochure I've got for a 2.2 manual saloon are;
Urban-20.2
Extra Urban-39.8
Combined-29.4

My 2.5 does a lot better than that - high 20s knocking about and mid 30s on a decent run.

Just drove 1300 miles from Glasgow to the Costa Brava going via Millau not Lyon, averaged 30.9 mpg.

Used to get 28mpg from my old 3.0ltr elite over the same journey.

Our 2.2's are both rubbish on local journeys but do very well on a run. (one manual, one auto) ::)
