Mmmmmm v8.

Also an MB club member, but ours are a little older...

I'd strongly suggest anti-corrosion treating it before the winter mind you  :)

The powers that be in 'ze fatherland' do not allow german cars, especially MB, to go rusty. :)

Nice car Mr Tilbo. The thick end of 300 BHP and 300 ft lb of torque should be fun. :y
.
Thanks Opti, I had to move quick to get this one everything in its favour mileage history  & price ! I had a budget of £8000 & this fell well below , I secured it before the main ad hit his website ,I think I would have lost out otherwise. And yes the drive home was great fun , seriously thinking of taking it back to the fatherland for a real good blast !!

That's monaro, cv8 money.
.

Looked at Monaros sketchy service history in my price range, and at my age. (62) thought I might look a bit sad so settled for the Merc with full history receipts even previous tax discs, a car that appears to have been cherished from day 1.

Not a fan of that shape, but that does look really nice 8)

Hope it serves you well :y

Re servicing, Mercedes service plans are an effective way of fixing your service/Mot costs for a few years. Also they do reduced rates and fixed price servicing for older models... Important if you wish to preserve the 30 year corrosion guarantee ;)

Very graceful. Also good choice not to get yourself a 'midlife crisis Monaro', save them for us young 'uns.... except I probably won't be able to get one until I'm 62..... Oh, bugger  :D ;D

Looks a cracker, thought that engine shot was from the brochure  :)

A stunning looking example. Some Mercs of that vintage can rust worse than an old Alfasud, but it looks like you've got a good one.
As for the Monaro option, it would be like choosing a suit from Burtons instead of Armani.  :)

I can never quite understand why the Monaro holds it's value so well. :-\
My 2006 CLS 500 cost £6800. A Monaro of the same vintage would have been closer to £10,000 at the time. ???

Yet the Merc cost almost £70,000 new with the Monaro barely half that. Crazy.

Have to agree here, even the CLS 55 AMG full bore ones can be had for less than a Monaro.

Monaro is easily tuned to silly power, has a very desirable drive train (for kit cars etc) and would more than likely out handle the Merc.....

Plus its likely to be considerably cheaper to run with standard suspension etc.

In truth, one is a family saloon with a thumping great big V8 and the other a retirement cruiser with a V8

He's right, you know. I'd love a V8 (if I could afford to run one). 10 years ago it would have been the monaro, now it's the merc.

.....and decade from now you will be lusting after an Austin 1100 Vanden Plas complete with leather seats, picnic tables, and a tartan rug.  ;D

It's sad how our horizons close in as we age. ::)
