Title: My Progress So far
Post by: Sam Burton on 26 May 2012, 12:28:32
Started out in life like this Standard GLS spec with the later CD wheels
(http://s16.postimage.org/b0rbvvwyd/GLS.jpg)

Then i fitted the Elite wheels From RobG then a week later the adjuster failed in the headlights so consequently MOT time it was a no no. So i thought sod it time for the HID upgrade and front fogs. I had to remove the front end so when my Dad (Courier Driver just easier  ;D :D) went to collect the HID headlights and fogs when he got back i could throw them in and get it back to Re-MOT it.

All Back together Tax'd and MOT  :)

And now the tweaking starts granted ive still got stupid things to do e.g. The Previous owner fitted uprated rear springs to fit a towbar and never fitted the towbar so consequently it rides like a dragster(I finally found this out) :-\

So Black headlights and De-Badged
(http://s16.postimage.org/jfl78kj2t/IMAG0253.jpg)

(thanks to my Mrs shes dropped my phone and cracked the camera lens and the crack goes right through the middle it still takes pictures just cloudy)

and this is what she looks like now

Future things are

Bodywork in Gamlingay for the horrible scuff on the Passenger side
Aluminium/White Pearl Centre console/Gearstick surround/Door Trims by Me
Pro-Drive Spoiler from Twiglet
Cream Leather Conversion from PaulCDX

Do you really want springs that put the high about 4 Inches higher than the front?!?!?!
Title: Re: My Progress So far
Post by: albitz on 16 June 2012, 22:09:42
Theres something definitely very wrong with how the rear is sitting Sam. :-\
Car is nicely improved apart from that though.Leather interior makes so much difference. :y
Actually, very similar upgrades to the ones Ive done to my CD. Very satisfying when its all done. :y

P.S Really need to paint those headlight washers. ;)

That rear is very high. Hopefully the new springs will sort that. What springs do you have at the moment out of interest for the back to be that high?

Other than that looks awesome and I love the cream interior!

:y UPDATE ON PROGRESS :y

Okay Ive decided on the 'Wood be Gone' method but decided to have a play at work thanks to joshwyatt i managed to get an identical replica of my dash.

Here are the dash's at the minute

wood be gone and BOOM! here is my dash now after a little plastic additive and ScotchBrite
(Aluminium with White Pearl flip - Same as Dash)

Im very pleased how its came out as in the right light it flips from Silver Aluminium to White Pearl so looks good. it also has a High Gloss Scratch resistent Clearcoat which makes it stand out that little bit more

But decided to carry on the trend on a TEST ITEM  ::)
Here is my Climate Control Panel as Standard as we all know

But decided to give it ago so i broke it down had to give it a good hard rub down with different varitations of ScotchBrite to remove the matt coating ontop of the plastic. Once i did this i Primered it with one of my companies products which flatens any pits, groves or inperfections Good stuff :y and then My Ali and Pearl MIX as top coat then the Clearcoat to finish. NOW!! it looks like this

... Now it looks good granted but not brilliant I Reckon if i hadnt keyed the Primer after it dried it could of had a lovely smooth finish it looks good but close up you can tell ive gone HARDCORE on it  ::) but in the two lines next to the Twist buttons/knobs and the two lines in the middle made it looked hurrendous but i scratch the silver out so its back down to the Black plastic which made it look 100X better

SO.. I decided to build it up anyways just to see what it looked like so follow me down lol

Here is the Black Screen back into place.

In with the Buttons!.. (Now i Sourced this from joshwyatt as well and the buttons are worn amasing what a little black pen can do for the camera  ::) ::) :D But when i fit it ill fit the buttons and electrics from my original in the car.)

In with the Twist Knobs..

And now Finally fitted into the Sprayed dash  :y
(I need to spray the Cigerette Lighter section if anyone has one spare??? let me know)

Hey Sam,

I'm really enjoying the way you (and EMD) are making your Migs well and truely your own! :)
I think it's so lovely to see creativity and trying stuff out on the forum. :y

I will be trying something similar myself (when I get round to it!  ::)) and have a number of options to consider.
Your creativity is an inspiration! :y :y

Dashboard Update

Right guys ive sprayed the last piece of the centre console which is the cigerette lighter compartment cover same as the rest and then clearcoated like the rest looks good

Granted its not the best finish on either end but i was worried about it building up to much on the ends so just decided to leave it as most of the time you cant see it anyway

Now fit time  :o :) :y

BEFORE
(http://s18.postimage.org/qjizl4921/1_Wood_2.jpg)
After i pulled the Wood effect Centre Console out i transferred the decent buttons into the Silver unit and decided to remove the Red inner translucent layer to change the climate control lights from yellow to Blue/Green so here it is fully re-assembled

Yer I got my spoiler from my pal Twiglet had It resprayed for a £10 and glued it on there easy to fit as well what I did was placed it on the boot and you can feel where it's supposed to fit because it doesn't move up or down once sitting comfortably, then I used masking tape oo the bottom where it meets the boot top and underneath then simply fill with some decent adhesive and hold on the boot untill it sets, once set pull off tape job done  :y

seller is a bit dodgy ;P Lovely addition to my Omega

I presume it's meant as a joke but some people may think otherwise and decide not to bid on any items I decide to list, anychance you can retract it or shall I take up the issue with E-bay?

Cheers, Rich.

Hi Guys
Quick Update

After the door incident i decided to spend some money fixing all the little anoying jobs on the Mig replacing the Heated Windscreen Washers was one, Replacing Passangerside headlight after my Mrs reversed into it and dislodged the Lens from the Unit itself (Impressive i know) and i decided to finally have the Wheels refurbished so My mig Currently is running on my Spare set of 5x110 Alloys from my GSI astravan but there technically from a Vectra C look okay but the tyres look too small :)
