WSBK this weekend
« on: 21 February 2011, 21:31:44 »

The season starts off this weekend, judging by today's practise times Carlos Checa is the man to watch, but then again Ducati does seem to die off during the race and season.
Glad to see Tom Sykes as top Brit in sixth place,I know it's early doors at the moment and testing means nothing until the chequered flag has fallen but I wish him and ALL the Brits a great season.

Sounds familiar,SWMBO has resigned herself to being a 'bike widow' until November

Although she did enjoy WSBK at Silverstone when I got paddock and pit tickets last year (result) :y

I would dearly love to see Haga get a title before he hangs up his leathers, just for all the entertainment he,s provided over the years. Cant see it though, Im not sure he is even on a works bike this season.

There are no Ducati factory bikes this year as the Xerox sponsorship wasn't renewed they announced that they would be pulling the plug during last season  :(
Have to agree that the Samauri of slide would look good on top of the podium at the end of the season as no-one else rides the lines that he does  :o

Haga is on a privateer Aprillia this season.
Rumour has it Ducati pulled out og WSBK because they couldnt afford to do that and pay Rossis wages - dont know if theres any truth in it.

That Ducati rumour has been doing the rounds for a while and as said the lack of sponsorship from Xerox didn't help

If they wanted to stay in, I would think they could have found a sponsor.
Tbh WSB is way past  its prime. MotoGP has really eclipsed it in recent years, in the eyes of joe public. Its really just a biking enthusiasts championship now imo. It doesnt have big star names like it used to. If things continue as they are going I could see the championship disappearing in the next few years.

I don't think the Flammini brothers would be too happy with their championsip disappearing and they have been banging a few tables at Dorna about 2012 Moto GP engine capacity changes.
I think Moto 2 was the best out of the three non-production classes last season imho.
For a domestic series BSB gets my vote with the new points system that they started last season it makes the entertainment last longer.
