Why is nothing simple?
Bought a new (second hand) car on the 23rd August, didn't want to pay £50odd quid just for a few days RFL, so parked the car up on private property with the intention of Taxing the vehicle tomorrow.
Just went to the DVLA website, and the 12digit Doc. Ref. No. on the V5C/2 is invalid. I know the previous owner, so there is no funny business going on, but I suspect it's because they have processed the 'new keeper' details and the V5 is now in the post to me.
Will I have to wait for this document to come through, or can I tax the car at a Post Office? I've got a wedding to go to tomorrow and was hoping to use the new(er) car to go in.
TIA

should be able to tax it at the post office :y

Take your little strip from v5,and insurance, and a wad of cash, down to post office at 0900, should be taxed by 09,15.

did you declare it sorn ,when you got it ? as the new keeper ,you should have.
Also, Biggriffin's 15 min time estimate may be a little off .
end of the month(busy time for post office),saturday morning,(busy time for post office)ebay parcels getting posted etc

Sorry guys. I was a little premature with my post. My next-door-neighbour just banged the door with a Swansea envelope. Post-Person had delivered it to them by mistake.
I'll wait until midnight and Tax the bugger.
What also arrived was M&S Energy bill, BOOOOOOO, and a Certificate of Entitlement for my new personalised number plate YAYYYYYYY!
So, yeah, I'm one of those 'tossers' now! ;D
