Why would a mobile number ring through to a recorded message stating that I have been connected to a test number for a media server gateway?

Confuddled of Mordor ???

Sounds like a scam of some sort.  :-\

Maybe they connected you to a premium rate number costing a squillion quid a second!  :)

The number worked normally in and out on Saturday  :-\

Have just received a text from the person I wss calling, so presumably their phone registered the missed call... Most odd.

It sounds to me like the voicemail server was having a fart and the traffic got lost.
