Title: Another MID query
Post by: familyman on 21 December 2006, 22:40:44
Using my computer today and went to range setting and remembered that since i've had the car this has never worked, just diplays 3 dashes, rest of functions fine inc inst mpg, and no fault with dislay again all working fine. Tried pressing the reset and even started the stop watch but made no difference.
Any one got any ideas out there

And cheers by the way for your help c/d fault turned out to be the cable, broken wire behind c/d player under thick plastic sheath, quick solder job and all was fine

It may have a problem reading tank contents, or it may have incorrect programming.

Press both stalk buttons together for 3 secs, and post back the numbers....

Doesn't seem valid for pre mini facelift Omega. Couple of Q's...

Is the computer function lines below the Radio display line on MID?

Could the MID have been replaced with one from a Vectra?

I'm gonna stick my neck out and suggest the MID has come from a 1.8 manual Veccy with 15" wheels....

Hey again. display has date at top changes to radio/cd functions
below that is computer functions
below that is time next to that is check lamp
computer functions scrolling through are outside temp 0
                                                           inst fuel consumption
                                                           average consumption
                                                           average speed
                                                           range---
stopwatch then back to the top
If it is a Vectra one can it be reflashed to correct car or will i have to replace unit? :(

Yes, pre mini facelift type.  Presumably, it can be reprogrammed. Never tried it myself, but no reason why it can't...   ...not sure if this would fix range problem - that may be unrelated?

Either a Tech1 or Tech2 should be able to reprogram that MID.  Mini Facelift MIDs (computer lines on top) will most likely need a Tech2.

Also check the wiring to pin 26 of the MID......it should read the same voltage as that on pin 20 of the instrument panel....this is the fuel level sender feed
