Omega General Help / Weird LPG /Petrol problem
« on: 29 May 2010, 17:37:25 »
Hope you good people may have some clues for me to follow

2.2 lpg/petrol 115000 miles 2003

Runs like a dream on LPG but a dog on petrol. Its been on tech 2 and Kevin cannot see any issues. Really hard to start but flips eventually to lpg and all ok..

Does it use the maf or O2 sensor when on lpg ??

Its got worse recently.. it was a niggle its now a real pain in the arxx.  Tried redex to clean injectors etc. but seems to make no difference. The fact that all ok on lpg seems to suggest the spark etc is good as lpg normally much harder to ignite.

Every now and then it disappears and runs really well but that is getting less and less.

Any suggestions would be great even if the only make me smile as I am sad at the cars temperament

Omega General Help / Wheel Wobble
« on: 30 March 2010, 22:59:39 »
Evening all

2.2 2003 omega saloon 114K
Had the beast 3 years and its always had a bit of a wobble as I accelerate at about 50 mph and I lived with it, new tyres made no difference. Noticed lately that its now a bit worse and even more noticeable as I slow down at around 40 or 30.
Someone also said sitting in the car on tickover about650rpm it feels a bit wobbly.

Any thoughts

Omega General Help / Big Up to Daz ( Darth Loo-Knee) mechanic
« on: 06 February 2010, 14:17:11 »
Everybody.

Just wanted to send my regards to Daz who did my cambelt for me.Cannot recommend him highly enough. If you've got problems I am sure he can resolve them, he seemed to know everything there is to know about Omegas. I bent his ear as he did the belt and now I've got more hints and tips to keep the old girl running.
He goes by the name of
DARTH LOO-KNEE on this Forum
Good value and reliable.
Thanks again

Omega General Help / LPG mixture
« on: 03 February 2010, 20:02:15 »
Does anyone know if I can adjust the mixture levels of my LPG.Its running rich (I think) and need to lower it , its turning my emissions light on!!!

Read somewhere that you can adjust it on the vaporiser/mixer

QUOTE from another forum
]I'm a happy bunny!

After doing a routine service on the 90 the other day, I decided to play with the mixture screw between the mixer and the vaporizer, my first attempt ever!

I just turned the mixture screw down, then revved the engine, and kept turning it down a quarter turn until the engine was under-fueling on revving, then turned it back up a quarter.

As a result it still runs and starts the same, no loss of power over the previous set-up etc.

I used to get 2.7 mpl, which is 12.27 mpg, driving half sensibly, half with high revs doing about 60mph.

After the play (which I did 50 miles into a full tank) I did 100 miles, and then filled up.
This time it returned 3.1 mpl (14.09 mpg), and it had been given a fiar thrashing in terms of keeping the revs up!

So hopefully when I next fill it up, I'll get around 3.3 mpl (15 mpg) even after being driven hard!

So that's the last time I hand over £100 for the local LPG fitter to check and re-tune the system!!! (unless I smell a leak!)

Any thoughts ??

Omega General Help / MOT failed emissions high HELP???????
« on: 01 February 2010, 14:40:16 »
Afternoon

2.2 cd lpg auto  110k  LPG  2003

MOT failed on emissions readings as below

Fast Idle
             CO   (.3max)     reading .8   fail
              HC    (200max)  reading 31   pass
LAMBDA         (1.030max) reading .97 pass

 2nd fast idle
              CO   (.3max)     reading .285   pass
              HC    (200max)  reading   9   pass
LAMBDA         (1.030max) reading .99   pass

Natural Idle

CO     (0.5 max)   reading 4.47   fail

Garage tested on LPG are the max levels the same as petrol ??? they seemed unsure.

I have since cleaned breather properly and they are now clear.  Will this make a differance.

Emmissions light was on   its now gone off.

Daz is coming at the weekend to do Cambelt but wanna get MOT sorted B4 if poss

Any ideas

PS  Kev had a tech 2 read and all seemed ok ???

Omega General Help / Poor starting and idle 2.2 petrol /LPG
« on: 30 November 2009, 15:38:42 »
Gents and Gals

Bit of background.
2.2 petrol /lpg  2003 had it 3 years  bought at 70000 now 109000.
Runs a dream on lpg but has to start on petrol.
When starts from cold it ticks over at about 1200 rpm but very lumpy, if you touch the gas it normally dies.
With a lot of TLC I can make it run long enough for the gas to kick in then all ok.
My deductions are that as its ok on lpg then the ignition system must be ok as must the idle control valve.
If i switch to petrol when on the move it splutters a bit a low revs and feels like i am towing a tank.
The petrol itself is newish it had a new cam sensor a while ago and a new dis pack.

When it runs on petrol it feels like the ignition timing is out.

Any help gratefully accepted and will answer any questions. :y
