Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Parrot phone kits

I was going to get a Nokia kit but these have also been recommended. Has anybody had one installed on the Omega? If so, what do they think of it?

Hi all, I have a Nokia CARK 134 hands free kit in my MV6, which has a cradle for my 3510i. I have a new phone 6500 classic which can use Bluetooth. It looks as if I can just replace the cradle with a Bluetooth reciever(?) and keep the original 'black box' under the dash which mutes the stereo and switches the phone over the speakers.
Am I correct in thinking the black box has not Blue tooth function?

I don't want to pay a ICE shop to fit a whole new system if i can just replace the cradle

Omega General Help / U380 tester

I was watching Wheeler Dealers the other night, they used a U380 diagnostic tester on the Saab 93 they were working on. Has anybody used one of these on their Omega? They seem to get good reviews, http://www.amazon.co.uk/U380-Diagnose-Tester-Diagnostic-Scanner/dp/B001C9ZISW

Omega General Help / Climate control not working.

Hi all, took the MV6 to get the aircon regassed today, no joy as they said it was leaking. Leak so bad that they couldn't get it to take any gas at all.
How easy is it for the home mechanic to find a leak by visual inspection? The car is old and on the point where it's not worth spending hundreds of pounds to fix. But I can't face the summer with no aircon. I'm hoping I can find something obvious and then pay a garage to just replace the part, rather than diagnose the whole problem.

Omega General Help / Leaking windscreen?

Hi guys, my 98 Meega has a leak on the drivers side which is causing water to collect under the carpet in the footwell. I had the same issue a while ago and found the drain hole on the driver side in the scuttle completely blocked.  Clearing that seemed to fix the problem.
This time it is clear yet the car continues to leak. The passenger side is completely dry. Any ideas or suggestion please before I get the screen refitted?

Hi all, on my 3.0  I already have a Pipercross panel airfilter and a Jetex exhaust system. Was on the internet the other day, found a site selling Jetex air induction kits. Basically a cone shaped airfilter which does away with the airbox. About £100, has anybody used one on their Omega and is there any noticable gain/difference?

Omega General Help / Key fob battery replacement

Hi, my keys are 11 years old and as far as I know still have the original batteries. lately I've noticed it doesn't always work first time, and I have to tap the key on something first. How do I replace the batteries, do I have to get Vauxhall to do it?

Omega General Help / use of a cycle rack and rear bumper problems

Hi all. Last year I used a Halfords cycle rack on my MV6, the rack has 2 foam pds. One rests on top of the boot and the other at the bottom of boot/top of the bumper. The rack is held on by straps which hook over various parts of the boot. After a few hundred miles the weight of the cycles had caused the top of the bumper to deform. Once the rack was removed this deformation eventually restored itself.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so have they found a fix? I can see the bumper being permanently damaged or even collapsing whilst driving.

Omega General Help / cracked door mirror glass

Was investigating why my passenger door mirror isn't moving when I adjust it from inside, and I've cracked the glass!! VX want 62 quid for a new one......?
Are there any aftermarket ones that are any good? I'm not too worried about the heating side of things as that's not worked for years.

Hi chaps, do we know if these can be repaired if damaged? I have a good set on the car and a set of 4 spares which need a refurb. However one of them has a flat spot on the rim. I was going to sell them on eBay as they're taking up space in my garage, but a set of 3 probably won't sell

Omega General Help / Locked out of my own car!!!!

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I'm a bit stressed. My drivers don't open, the solenoid stuck literally 3 or 4 times and now I cannot open the door. I had this on the passenger front but that kept working until I replaced the solenoid. This was has just gone almost without warning. How the f8ck do I get the door open??

Omega General Help / Broken door strap

Hi guys. my drivers door made a horrible noise for a while and eventually something broke off and fell down the door. I found the guide on how to fit the reinforcing kit but i'm guessing mine is beyond that stage. has anybody else had this fixed by a bodyshop or managed to fix it themselves? I'm guessing that whatever the strap goes into inside the door fell off.

Omega General Help / new member, old owner!!!

Hi guys and girls, i've just joined the forum but have owned a 98 plate MV6 manual since 2002. A great car which has only let me down twice in that time. I've no idea what i'd replace it with. I've seen quite a few post which mention a Tech 2. I had a look on ebay, they're about 25 quid from china or 35 from USA. Is there any difference? Can I get one from Halfords?
This is a great forum, lets' keep the Omega fleet up and running
