Well, got myself a Parrot 3200 kit, comes with a nice compact colour screen. Got voice recognition, mutes the stereo. Seems a nice piece of kit.

Cheers, Paul

I was going to get a Nokia kit but these have also been recommended. Has anybody had one installed on the Omega? If so, what do they think of it?

Cheers, Paul

(I somehow managed to post this in the photo gallery first time around!!!!!!)

Actually I can't see why a 6500 Classic wouldn't work with a CK-7W in Bluetooth mode (Obviously it doesn't have a pop port so a cradle isn't going to work), I think it's just Nokia trying to push their newer CK-100.
some nokias don't work with ck-7w - awful echo.  Think nokia have lost the plot in last 2 or 3 years

Yep, gotta agree with that!

I have to agree, I don't know why my 6500 works with a ck-100 but not the 7w........bluetooth is bluetooth surely? Maybe it is just to make people buy new kits and make more money. If i can confirm the 6500 works with a ck-7w i'll go that route. My local ICE shop will supply and fit a ck-100 for 200 quid.....fairly reasonable i guess

mm, interesting. the 7w doesn't support my phone i've since discovered. i need a ck-100. i can one for 80 odd quid, but it requires professional installation apparently. 130 quid seems a lot for an install. as they say on Top Gear, surely it can't be that difficult. Can it?

Hi all, I have a Nokia CARK 134 hands free kit in my MV6, which has a cradle for my 3510i. I have a new phone 6500 classic which can use Bluetooth. It looks as if I can just replace the cradle with a Bluetooth reciever(?) and keep the original 'black box' under the dash which mutes the stereo and switches the phone over the speakers.
Am I correct in thinking the black box has not Blue tooth function?

I don't want to pay a ICE shop to fit a whole new system if i can just replace the cradle

Thanks, Paul

Hi, has anyone had one of these installed, or installed one themselves in their Omega?

Omega General Help / U380 tester

I was watching Wheeler Dealers the other night, they used a U380 diagnostic tester on the Saab 93 they were working on. Has anybody used one of these on their Omega? They seem to get good reviews, http://www.amazon.co.uk/U380-Diagnose-Tester-Diagnostic-Scanner/dp/B001C9ZISW

Yeah, that's what I was expecting TBH, so big surprise to get away with only £65. I'd have ditched the car if mine had been that size bill. I was just very lucky....

Thanks Kevin, I'll get a few quotes first as I'm loathe to spend big money on a car that's worth probably £500 at most!!!!  :y

If you find any places in West London who do a free checkup, post back, as mine needs a pressure test  :y

Hi, I got it fixed today at a place called JB Enterprises, on the A30 between Staines and Ashford hospital. I've not got their number handy as I'm at work, but can PM you tommorow if you want it. A simple regass and a valve replacement came to the measly sum of £65!!!! Cracking VFM!!! Cheers, Paul

Hi all, took the MV6 to get the aircon regassed today, no joy as they said it was leaking. Leak so bad that they couldn't get it to take any gas at all.
How easy is it for the home mechanic to find a leak by visual inspection? The car is old and on the point where it's not worth spending hundreds of pounds to fix. But I can't face the summer with no aircon. I'm hoping I can find something obvious and then pay a garage to just replace the part, rather than diagnose the whole problem.

Thanks, Paul

Omega General Help / Re: Leaking windscreen?
« on: 16 November 2010, 14:44:37 »
Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I've removed the soundproofing foam from the drivers footwell, it was absolutely soaked. That's now drying out in the house.
I checked the passenger, 100% bone dry.
I checked the drain hole underneath the pollen filter, that was blocked completely. I managed to clear it. I also ran a length of 1.5mm wire down both sunroof channels, no blockages found. Ran the motor, couldn't see any leaks from the heater matrix. Now have newspaper stuffed up inside the footwell to trap any new water ingress. Hopefully the blocked drain was the cause and it's fixed.

Cheers, Paul

Omega General Help / Leaking windscreen?
« on: 16 November 2010, 00:23:00 »
Hi guys, my 98 Meega has a leak on the drivers side which is causing water to collect under the carpet in the footwell. I had the same issue a while ago and found the drain hole on the driver side in the scuttle completely blocked.  Clearing that seemed to fix the problem.
This time it is clear yet the car continues to leak. The passenger side is completely dry. Any ideas or suggestion please before I get the screen refitted?

Thanks, Paul

Wow, what a response guys. That's as a big a NO as Gordon Brown willl be getting 1st thing tommorow morning!
Ii'll save the £100 pound and spend on something useful.
Thanks for the flood of advise and unlike some other forums, the lack of sarcastic "why do you want to do that for" answers.

Cheers, Paul
