General Discussion Area / A Big thanks to Sassanach
« on: 17 November 2007, 17:48:42 »
I just wanted to say a public thanks to Sassanach for changing the transmission fluid on my car today, got this done as a precaution really as the fluid was the original (62K) and it was time for a change. The gearchange is a lot smoother as a result.

Anyway, a very knowledgeable chap who I reckon could dismantle and reassemble an autobox with his eyes closed! So thank you for sorting it out and showing me how it's done. I reckon I could even attempt it myself now i've seen it done, however, having the car 6ft up in the air is a definate advantage I don't have the luxury of here!!!!

Cheers Mate  :y

PS. Definately inspired by the neat LPG install on the Saloon........ got me thinking now!!!!

General Discussion Area / Omega Data Collection - C'mon everyone!

Having fed some detail into the spreadsheets that Sir Golfbuddy has produced on Google Docs it's obvious that there needs to be more people inputting to get some proper comparisons.....

This is a great resource that will only improve if people take part, so please please log on and post some info.

 :y Cheers!

General Discussion Area / Wheel Bolts - They're off!
« on: 14 September 2007, 22:43:57 »
Just to bore everyone.....

As you may all know I couldn't get the dam locknuts off my car, I first tried just before I went on my hols (Only had the car a few months), since then, i've bought a new key and removed one, MDTM got his airgun on them and managed to get another one off and the final two were removed with the aid of two mechanics, one break off sammy sledgehammer, five drill bits, a scaffold pole, every known swear word known to man and one thumb hit with sammy.....

Now i'm seriously considering supergluing the rather things to the local kwik fit window!

General Discussion Area / The Climate Control upgrade
« on: 09 September 2007, 21:00:52 »
Earlier in the week I had the climate control software updated, I only ever use the climate in Auto mode (I'm a lazy git) and had got quite used to having the force ten gale when you return to a hot car.

Now the Auto mode is so discrete you hardly notice its running, it seems more intelligent in the way it cools the car and I think it cools it quicker than it used to before, quite how it does that when the fan seems as if it's hardly running I really don't know but I certainly wont be going back to the earlier version!

Many thanks to MDTM for doing the climate and gearbox updates earlier this week, Top Man!  :y

General Discussion Area / Version 9 Autobox update
« on: 06 September 2007, 22:00:46 »
V6 to V9

Just had the gearbox updated by MDTM and the difference is amazing!

The changes that I have noticed so far are that the car seems to pick up far better, you don't get that 'clutch slipping' sensation where you have loads of revs but the box isn't using them, the throttle seems far more connected to the 'box if you see what I mean.

The changes are so smooth now that you barely notice them, as other people have said on here, sometimes the only way you realise the box has changed up or down is by the rev counter.

The Lockup and thud when the box eventually decides to change down appears to have gone now as well, never quite understood the circumstances that cause this to happen, but on my short drive back and taking a town route to try and replicate it, I have not been able to reproduce it.

Quite simply, if you haven't had this update done on your Omega then you really have too! It is the best single upgrade that can be done IMO.

General Discussion Area / SVO Omega's
« on: 07 September 2007, 14:39:59 »
Working in local government is incredibly boring! However, when the local MP has recently changed roles within central Government you get to see something a little different!

Outside we have two unmarked SVO 3.2 Omega's (one saloon, one estate), 15 inch CD wheels on the lead car, extra front and rear buttons, run flat tyres, wing mounted aerials, bullet proof glass etc etc......

Now, shall I ask the nice Armed officer to put an OOF flyer under the wipers? LOL

 ;D ;D

General Discussion Area / Relevant subject titles
« on: 04 September 2007, 13:32:19 »
Forgive me if you think i'm having a rant, but I do feel that posts in the Omega General Help section should have a title that relates to the problem.

There are so many that just say 'Help!!!!!' 'Got this problem' etc, just makes it difficult to find a topic when you are researching a problem and also means you end up reading posts that you can't offer any help on.

What do others feel?

« on: 12 July 2007, 09:18:58 »
Just wanted to say a big thanks to Mark for all his time and work going through the plenum air leak fault logically, finding the fault and rectifying it!  :y

Also, fixing the passenger seat, bonnet catch and countless other checks on things I was uncertain about.  :y

This chaps Omega knowledge is incredible!

Many thanks for all your time and help, it was really really appreciated.

General Discussion Area / Elite Cream Leather Interior
« on: 15 May 2007, 16:49:08 »
Does anybody have a picture of the interior of a facelift elite with cream leather, possibly looking at one but only ever considered black leather / interior before. Just wondered what the interior looked like in that colour.

Not sure how child proof a light colour would be!

Thanks
