General Car Chat / omega mv6
« on: 11 January 2015, 21:34:25 »
just looking at a 2003 omega mv6 on the internet.......strange thing is that according to the dvla   the mileage checks are as follows...5th may 2011...reading was 106000.....nearly two years later 15th feb 2013    reading was   107000.....15may 2013 same year was 108000.....so in two year mileage increased by only 2000 miles...ok fair enough, but then on 15th december 2014  reading was 141000..which means in 19 months the mileage increased by 33000 miles......do you think that is strange.??????? :-\ :-\

General Car Chat / rear exhaust
« on: 18 December 2014, 16:51:49 »
The omega woes just carry on and on....today i was told by another driver that I had a load of ribbon hanging from my rear exhaust box and he asked if someone had stuffed it up there and did I know it was there...On inspection and a lot of tugging all of the fibre glass wrapping has now come out....looked like horse hair....filled  a carrier bag full of the stuff.....so although the silencer sounds and looks ok I have just ordered a new one...merry christmas  :y :y

General Car Chat / omega models
« on: 16 December 2014, 23:54:15 »
I have had around 9....2.2 omegas (desmonds as you call them  :y )  and the only real problems I had was three with head gasket failure, apart from that realy reliable....I have been looking at a 2003...2.6 omega and wondering if I should have it....I have had a 2.5 and had nothing but bother...so what are the opinions of a 2.6../ 3.2..as the thought of.....cam cover gaskets..oil coolers...self levelling suspension..extra .exhaust sensors.... and other common issues all going wrong coupled with dearer insurance....why do most of you prefer the larger engine motors......apart from the extra power ...what is there to gain  :-\ :-\

Omega General Help / heater / h.b.v.valve
« on: 05 December 2014, 15:50:30 »
Facelift 2.2.....heater probs......all blowers / vents work ok,,,temp gauge goes up to 85/90 deg...but heater is very poor.hardly luke warm..Question 1....I have found that the  air vac pipe on the h b v  has snapped off where it joins the valve on the top..so have ordered another valve to change over....the other problem is have I been heavy handed with the air vac pipe as it came from the top of the valve and  it appeared to be routed into the cab where the heater matrix pipes came out where the sharpe metal edge is,.now I thought that it could not be correct to be jammed in there like it was so I gave it a tug and snapped it..then i pulled hard on the remaining bit and that came out as well....on placing the two pieces together they appear to fit together as one piece.........so were they jammed in there by someone who has replaced the matrix or do they go into the cab and have i caused myself a lot of work by breaking it..........question 2...that  h b v air vac pipe is routed along with the brake servo air vac pipe across the bulk head towards the nearside inner wing where they both disapear into the sound insulation,,,,,so where do they go from there and where  are they connected to....thanks  :y :-\ :-[

Omega General Help / wheel and brake wobble
« on: 30 November 2014, 22:38:10 »
A friend of mine just bought an omega...The problem is at approx 50mph it has slight wheel vibration and on easy braking there is a slight vibration coming up through the brake pedal just as if the  a.b.s system is making  the brakes go..on/off..on/off on.off....With heavier braking this disapears and feels ok...The brakes are spot on and there are no a.b.s warning light to say the unit is faulty.....fitted new genuine front discs and pads and then had the wheels tracked and balanced..flew through m.o.t...with no advises......if the steering geometry camber/angle/whatever  is out would this cause these two symptoms...thanks  :y
