They are probably quite inefficient at maximum RPM but what percentage of the time does the engine spend at those RPM? (I hope not many, given that it's a Rover V8  :-X).

8.5 % is 17 Bhp on a 200 BHP engine. Can't see that myself. I bet that statistic is for a non-viscous fan on an engine with about 45 BHP.

Less noise is about the only one of their claims I'd agree with!

Overcooling? - No, Engines have thermostats
Economy? - Yes, in theory, but nothing like what they claim
Performance? - Yes, in theory, but nothing like what they claim
Comfort and Safety? - Streatching it a bit I reckon.
Catalytic converter damage? - Won't make any difference (if fitted)

However, I'd be fitting one just to ditch the viscous POS.

It's a sad state of affairs. I don 't know if the tax changes in 2009 have hiot home with m ost people yet. Price of petrol doesn't help though.

Is it worth doing an LPG conversion and keeping it?

No point using a machete to cut carrots, also no point putting grippy tyres on a 4 pot!

I don't know. I'd have thought you'd be looking to carry the speed through the corners cos once it's gone it takes a while to get it back again.  ;)

Oh, and whilst and engine will produce more power in cold, dense air, I find I get better fuel economy in warm weather. The engine spends less time in warmup enrichment after a cold start (which wastes a lot of fuel).

My 3.2 will also return 37 MPG at 65 ish. It tails off steadily above that. About 32 / 33 MPG at 70 ish, 30 MPG at 80 ish... 21 MPG at 120 on the autobahn. [smiley=evil.gif]

Reckon I could do it in my auto in today's weather as long as I pointed the front end into wind.  :o

Just been up to work on the glider trailer. All I could do to stop me tools blowing away. Then it started to p*ss down. No flying today. :(

Did see Iron Maiden's tour aircraft getting a once over by the workshop. "ED Force One"  ;D

He clearly didn't speak to TheBoy first. ;D

Bit of a shame has he had the carve the car up a bit to get it in there. Why, oh, why didn't he put a 3.2 V6 into it?  :-/

Speaking of crazy conversions I was thumbing through Practical Performance Car in the newsagents this lunch time and saw an article where someone had put a BMW Tractor lump from an Omega into a Reliant Scimitar. :-/

You can fit a device called a line-lock to the front brakes. Effectively just a valve that allows you to hold the fluid pressure in front brakes only. Not that I'm into such activities but I did witness an amusing burn-out competition at Le Mans where various exotica (with clueless drivers) attempted to do the same and failed due to too much grip or even just a failure to turn off the TC.

Then.. along came some likely lads in a beaten up "B" reg Fraud Sierra with the rear window fabricated from some attractive polythene.

Anyway, they had made 3 modifications to this vehicle from what I could see:

Fit the cheapest, hardest tyres they could find.
Fit a line lock
Fit a V8.

Needless to say, once the laughter had died down they left rubber for about 1/2 the length of the Mulsanne straight and left egg on a few faces too. ;D

You'll need a good selsction of Torx sockets for the Omega. Not sure how many of the kits include them. :-/ Halfords pro kit does.

If you have to add bits to the kit, you may as well buy a couple of ratchets, a couple of bars of sockets and a box and add as necessary IMHO. Depends if you're starting from nothing or already have bits IMHO.

The Halfords pro red tool chests are good, IMHO, but don't include any tools.

Have welder but no clue how to use it properly. Keep meaning to go on an evening course. :-/

I was talking to Mrs. KW's uncle last weekend. He's trying to save a disco at the moment (well, wondering whether to get it road legal or off-road it until it falls to bits.).

He's had issues with the sills both sides, and the box sections on the rear of the body that sit on the chassis.

Once you're sure you've cured all the rust give the underside a steam clean and a coat or two of a damned good underseal. There used to be a product called "carlife rubbercoat". Not seen it recently but it sticks like sh!t to a blanket and is rubbery so stones bounce off rather than chip.

I also have a pump up waxoyl spray doofer you're welcome to borrow.

I seem to have acquired Omegatoy's hoist (actually, he asked me to look after it).  Shame it doesn't fold, but then it does mean I can put it up in loft of garage...

Mind it doesn't bring the roof down. ;)

That one looks really nice, Issunaz. Doesn't take up too much space either. :y

Just when they though BA couldn't sink any lower.  ;D

Boss is going to Munich next week. I pleaded with him to fly Lufthansa but no...

We'll see how much aggro he gets for the sake of a couple of Executive Club points.  ;)
