As tragic as the situation is, and no one would deny that, I do tend to agree with you Mark. I fully understand (from similar personal circumstances) exactly how the family feels and why they would fight on for their cause, but there has to be a limit to how far you can go with safety measures?

As Al Murray would say

"“A beer for the gentlemen, and a wine or fruit-based drink for the ladies. Those are the rules. Where would we be if we didn’t have any rules? France. Where would we be if we had too many rules? Germany.”

I use an Aten CS-1262 (here http://www.aten.co.uk/products/productItem.php?pid=20051109120328003&psid=20070130114411002&pcid=20070130111333003&layerid=subClass3 )

Can be controlled by its own switches and / or keyboard. It also handels speaker / mic . I'm very happy with it. It has VERY good build quality.

The only drawback i found was that it masks out special mouse functions that people like logitech build into their software (e.g. page forward back button on mouse)

General Discussion Area / Re: Court Summons - TV Licence Evasion
« on: 12 January 2012, 20:47:32 »
TV Licensing are a very aggresive and bullying organisation. My wife has been trying to sell her deceased parents home for 3 years now. Its been empty since day one, and Tv licencing have been informed (many times), yet they still send county court order threats almost monthly. Luckily she is robust and just laughs, but many people would get very stressed. There have been several TV programs about how agressive they are. Simply make sure you have clear evidence that you have told them you don't need one - then use the letters for a nice warm fire!!

Looking at his profile, the old Bu**er was last active on Christmas Eve - maybe he's spent since then decorating the top of a Christmas tree? Well, twelth night has gone now so as soon as he extracts it from his orifice we may see him again.

(That'll make him surface, he won't resist returning the abuse  ;) )

Yep. The very notion that Microsoft would give a stuff about whether your computer is working rings alarm bells. ;D

I'm waiting for one of these to phone when I've got time on my hands, as I think it could be dragged out for quite a while before they twig that I'm running Linux. ;)

Yes, thats my thoughts too Kevin - except mine'll be a BBC Micro (model B of course). Can't wait for the call.

I'm resisting the temptation to fuse together the differing poles of opinion, as transforming the results could lead to battery from those who take a negative view.

:)

I see, thats how you tend to conduct yourself is it. I have to relay to you that I think its shocking, and so despite my resistence to leave, and having amp'le time to consider,  I'm afraid I will have to pull the plug on my involvement in this thread, so, unless it gets switched to another topic, I'm off Ohm.

I wonder if it came from Mrs Cath Ode (or her sister Ann) ;D

I would imagine their opinion on this matter to be poles apart.

Current thinking is that you are taking a rather Negative view - can't you be a bit more Positive?

Do you know what I think is really sad. The fact that the fare dodoger, on reflection the next day, and seeing what a pratt he had been, didn't have the gonads to say "I deserved all I got". The big change in society these days is people not accepting responsibilty for their own actions. A real man would have accepted and moved on, all he has done is confirmed what an ar*e he is to the whole world. I can't believe he has any friends, or self respect come to that.

So Sad, the loss of such a brilliant golfer. Only played one round in his life and scored a world record 36, a round that included no less than 11 'holes in one'. It must be true as evidently it was witnessed by his 20 bodyguards who all confirmed it.

A wonderful man  ;)

Building a minature V12 Engine (on the kitchen table no less! - understanding wife)

This, to me, is a thing of beauty, as much as any piece of art. Absolutely fantastic skills. If only we nurtured similar skills in the UK, but unfortunately, the UK does not recognise or reward real engineers / engineering.
